“" Top Chef" Quality all around!”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

My husband, myself and our family have been eating at West Street for at least 10 years. It is an upscale, trendy spot with a good casual vibe. We enjoy both lunch and dinner there. The staff has always been extremely attentive, passionate and very knowledgable. We never find ourselves with out anything for more than a few seconds.
We enjoy the "standards" on the menu such as braised short ribs. The beauty is the accompaniments are ever changing. All ingredients are local, therefore complimenting each season beautifully. Today, I had the beet, pear and ginger soup. Outstanding! The presentation was exquisite and the favors were unparalleled!
I have no idea what the price of everything was. We enjoy "top chef" quality food, a diverse wine list and attentive service. There are not many resturants around that get creative with favors and avoid the same old boring foods.
The owners have always been gracious and appreciative of our business.
I you want a refined, no fuss dining experience, visit West Street!
If you are looking to nit pick prices of bread and water and want discount prices, go to Chili's!

“The place where locals go to gossip, see and be seen”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

A well known watering place, simple food properly cooked and served by an attentive staff. Don't aspect fantastic offerings, but you will not be disapointed with the simple well done things they can produce.

“We'll Be Back”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

We drove from Granby to visit the West Street Grill, which we had learned about a few years ago from a show called "Eating Connecticut." The atmosphere is cozy and a bit noisy, which is great for having your own conversation. Our food was perfectly cooked (steak and scallops). There was one minor issue with a garnishing sauce that when pointed out was handled to our satisfaction. The owners are friendly as was the staff. We will be back to try more of the amazing food - oh, the Banoffee pie is a must!!

“Not worth the price - will not return”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

My husband and I wanted to venture beyond our usual locale and try out a new dining experience so after doing some research, I made reservations at West Street Grill. We are foodies and don't mind spending money on excellent cuisine - it's something we enjoy. Based on the glowing reviews, we were looking forward to eating there but came away disappointed and here is why. The food was good, but the portions were small and it was overpriced. For example - my husband ordered the smoked salmon appetizer for $18 - it was mostly whipped cream cheese with a very small bit of salmon garnished with pickles and mustard - definitely not worth the price! His lamb chops were good but the portion was small and it had another huge ball of the whipped cream cheese. The waiter asked if we wanted their house parmesan aioli bread and we said yes, thinking that it was the traditional bread that most restaurants offer. However, when we got our bill, we were charged $9 for 1 piece of bread with broiled cheese. We were taken advantage of since this was our first visit and weren't aware that this was an appetizer as it wasn't listed on the menu. All the other tables received the normal complimentary bread, but we didn't - they never even offered it to us. My salad and salmon entree were nice, but not spectacular. The wait staff was attentive, but the owners definitely catered to the locals and spent their time chatting with them. We came away feeling somewhat like outsiders and definitely will not return.

“Special Occasion Worthy!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

The servers were extremely helpful and courteous and we were given a sample of their house appetizer, the parmesan aioli bread, on the house! It was delicious! Everything tasted extremely fresh and the amount of detail put into the menu items is astounding for such a small restaurant. They have an excellent wine selection and a full bar if you like to enjoy a cocktail before your meal. I would highly reccommend this restaurant if you're passing through town or if you're looking for a destination dining spot.
