After having a good pizza lunch, we brought friends for dinner one night. It was a disaster!
The noise level was over the top, people visiting the next table had their butt in my space for about 20 minutes--had to ask them to move. Food was inedible, I sent it back and refused a repeat as the first course had taken 45 minutes to arrive. They sent a comp dessert which was some obscene looking whipped creme (sic) cake which I also did not eat.

I suppose if your criteria are large portions of pedestrian food, this is probably The Place For You!

Big portions, reasonable prices and just good Italian food. Plain dining room, nice deck in Summer.
Friendly but understaffed service. Great pizzas, well worth the stop on the way to Torrington and the Theatre.

Don't let the name deceive you. There are far more offerings in this wonderful restaurant than just pizza.

On a recent night out, I was in charge of finding a place for dinner before a group of seven of us were to attend a performance at the Warner Theatre in Torrington. I checked in Torriington and surrounding towns and found nothing that jumped out at me as "special." It then occured to me to check nearby Litchfield and that's when i discovered Da Capo, a mere 2.7 miles from the theatre.

In a word, this place was fantastic. The food, the décor, and the service were all top notch.

There is a wide range range of entrées, most of which have an Italian slant. Hearty generous portions are the norm here. Plan on a "doggie bag," especially if you order a pasta dish. Maybe you'll luck out like I did and the soup of the day will be the butternut squash bisque. Served in a "bowl" nearing the size of a birdbath, this soup was profoundly delicious, brimming with flavors that I could not individually identify. One of our lighter eaters ordered the bucatini with meatballs. You can imagine her shock at the size of the portion and the size of the TWO orbs of meat. This dish was not for the faint of heart. In general, EVERYONE in our group of seven RAVED about the food.

A special shout out to our waiter! This was a knowledgeable young gentleman who knew that menu inside out and made great suggestions when asked about the dishes. The kitchen staff was equally on their game as our orders were processed quickly and efficiently. Even the host came over to check on us to see if we found everything to our liking (which we did).

Dinner for 7, including four appetizers, seven entrées, soft drinks (no alcohol), tax and tip came to about $164 or roughly $24 per person...a great value.

Da Capo has just become my go-to place in Litchfield County.

The food and service were solid. The "family style" salad was HUGE for our party of 5 - we hardly made a dent at it for our first course. We ordered two pizzas as well that were fantastic. We will definitely return!
