I have eaten multiple times in nearly all the Max restaurants, and have never been disappointed. Max Downtown was the group's "flagship" restaurant, and remains the most upscale member of the family. It has a well- deserved, fine reputation among locals.

The restaurant and the bar have a sophisticated, polished vibe. You get the feeling from first walking in that you'll be well taken care of -- and you are right! The service is on the mark, the menu interesting, the food very good, and it's never so noisy you have to shout to be heard by your companions. (A real plus, as this seems to be harder and harder to find!)

Now, all of this comes with a bit of a price tag -- bring your wallet, it will feel lighter when you leave, but you'll also feel like it's been worth it.

I have been to the flagship probably over a dozen times the last five years, and it never changes ,,,,impeccable food and service. Can't be beat

I met my best buddy and we ate at the bar, since it was max's restaurant week and we could save a couple of Shekels. Limited options obviously, but both the prime rib and chicken were outstanding. The salads were wonderful also and the Keylime pie was to die for.

The only complaint was that the arrival of food was quite irregular. However when you decide to dine at the bar, don't expect the precise service you normally get in the dining room. But the bar offered a young and hip crowd that I was drawn to, even though we were a couple years older than the majority of young women bar side. No one seemed to mind

Can't wait until next visit

This is the best restaurant I have eaten at in CT. The food is excellent and the service is impeccable. A bit pricy, but worth it!

We attended the Inglenook Wine Dinner on April 8th and I must say that I have eaten all over the world and this mélange of food and wine is right up there with the best. The food and wine pairings, expertly collaborated by Wine Director Justin Gavry and Chef Hunter Morton were both thought provoking, gutsy and well thought out. The cuisine was well presented, beautifully seasoned and complemented the wines of Inglenook and Francis Ford Coppola. The highlighted pairing was a collassal lump crab crepe paired with 2011 Blancaneux, a white Rhone-style blend of estate-grown Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier. However, a juicy and succulent coffee rubbed ribeye laced with a chocolate cardamom jus served with 2009 Rubicon, Inglenook's 100% estate bottled cabernet sauvignon, also tickled my taste buds. The service was nothing short of outstanding highlighted by Jason and Chris providing their usual discreet level of service.
A toast to Steven Abrams and your team for another outstanding job! Sante!

Went before seeing Book of Mormon at The Bushnell. The decor is very tasteful, elegant without being gaudy. The menu had plenty of variety without being too extensive, service was attentive yet unobtrusive and not at all pretentious. The sommelier was very helpful in selecting a bottle of wine to accompany our food selections. The food was prepared perfectly and beautifully, flavor combinations were inventive and wonderful, and there were no inedible garnishes (a pet peeve of mine). Overall one of the best dining experiences I've had. Though it wasn't cheap ($150 plus tip for two appetizers, two entrees, one dessert, and a bottle of wine), it was certainly worth it.
