Productions vary, but you can count on great scenery, costumes, and stagecraft. Acting and scripts vary. Not New York, but just as good, at times. Give it a try.

I had floor seating which I loved. The first row made me feel like me & Mikey Baryshnikov
were bosom buddies.
I'm going back Saturday for Abundance.

I happened to be in Hartford for an event involving my teen daughter, that was taking place half a block from The Hartford Stage. We were in the right place and time to run across the production of Man in a Case. The website has a nice feature which allows you to see your view of the stage from various seating locations, which was helpful. The production was excellent, and we very much enjoyed the play, There is a parking garage adjacent, as well as free city run Star Shuttle which stops right at the theater.

Just saw Man in a Case starring Mikhail Barishnikov and it was fantastic! Every play we've attended has been first rate (except for the last Horton Foote play - Dividing the Estate (?). Try to go to Trumbull Kitchen for a bite before a play and then walk down Trumbull Street to the Hartford Stage for your show - it'll be a great night out in Hartford!

Great small venue. Cozy seating and drinks allowed in the theater. Couldn't have been more comfortable. Saw Man in a Case and loved it. Very avant garde.
