We went during kids Christmas break so, as expected, it was very crowded. My 7 year old and her friend had a great time. Though t was crowded they were still able to do almost everything they wanted to do. We spent 4-5 hours. Would consider the membership if it was a little cheaper.

Visited the Connecticut Science Center last weekend. We found a whole bunch of interesting exhibits that interested both our kids, 4 and 6, and myself. Nice to see them enjoy themselves in such an interesting atmosphere that didn't leave the adults bored on the sidelines. We visited for a couple of hours, but definitely could have spent more time there. We were given a membership as a gift so I don't know much about the fees.

The Connecticut Science Center is easily recognizable from I 91, with its swoopy, cantilevered, wave roof. This unique building is a welcome addition to the Hartford skyline. And, the inner structure of the building is as interesting as the outside arcitecture (lots of glass (including the elevators) and views of the Connecticut River).
There are essentially 4 floors of science exhibits with age appropriateness from pre-schoolers to adult. In addition the the fun and educational exhibits, there is a 300-seat 3D theater for an additional charge (although you can get a combo package with the admission fee). Expect to spend 3+ hours if you want to view all the exhibits. The gift shop offers a very good variety of science-skewed items (fun/educational) and the prices are about right. Parking is very easy and priced fairly for a city.
So, catch the wave - a nice local, destination for the family.

What a beautiful building and beautiful views. I would go for this alone. Of course, there is plenty to interest the whole family too. Preschoolers will be most entertained by the first floor water and ball play room. My son would play in there for hours! Be sure to wear shoes with a good grip, it can get slippery. The upstairs exibits are geared mostly towards older children (and adults), so a range of family members will enjoy the trip. A bit pricey, look for coupons in local advertisements.

Wow-very expensive for a family of 4 and it is way over rated. Need to lower the price or offer a family discounted ticket.
