“Great Free Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

this tour starts in the new buidling to the left of the capitol building, tour guide was very good and tour takes an hour. You get the history of CT and see in both chambers. If not in session you are actually in the debating chambers.

After the tour you can walk about and see things not included. Do not miss the hall of flags, especially the civil war ones, some of them were carried in many battles, also a tree trunk from Chickamagua full of cannon balls stuck in the trunk.

the cafe is open to visitors and I think a snack lunch for two was less than $10 !!!

there are plenty of parking garages about, tours only run mon to friday. you can spend 2 hours here .

“Enjoyable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

Friendly staff, beautiful interior, with an unusually Byzantine look about its walls and ceilings (more colorful than some more staid-stoned capitols). Some nice artifacts to see (including the Marquis de Lafayette's camp bed). A fine little cafeteria across the way in the basement, have a sloppy joe while surrounded by some Connecticut wheelers and dealers, or have some tater tots, and pack some for your bus ride home, when you're sad and hungry after saying goodbye to your little friend.

“Great Capitol”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

This place was awesome. We learned a lot about the government of the state of ct. They have a statue of Nathan hale and many other statues of famous constitution staters. We saw the general assembly room. We saw the senate and house rooms. It is very interesting. A must see for any hartford visitor

“Worth a tour.”

The building is very impressive. Should be rated as among the best to visit in the country. Visit the Legislative Office Building next door while you are there - there is an underground walkway to get there.

“Impressive-- but please - Preserve Those Flags”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

Worth a walk around -- amazing decor. Tour times didn't fit our schedule, but would have been interesting. Lafayette's camp bed -- who knew? Connecticut -- isn't it time to put those fragile Civil War era flags in proper storage?
