Owner description: A beautiful spot to view the autumn foliage.

We only hiked the Tower Path but it was a great hike. One thing to note is that this path is almost exclusively uphill on the way to the tower. It isn't a steep grade but is all 1 1/2 miles going uphill. The views were great once you got to the tower and climbed to the top so it is worth every step.

You get the best view of the Giant driving north from New Haven on I-91 take exit 10 then rt 40 west to rt 10 north to reach the park entrance. charge for parking on weekends a holidays so come during the week. pick up a free trail map at the sign board near the parking lot and start hiking . The Tower Trail and the Blue trail are the only trails that go to the stone look out tower the tower trail is an easy dirt road but the blue trail is rocky step climb best left to experienced hikers.. The Blue trail, White trail lop is the most difficult trail with the best views. the Green and Violet trails make a easy wooded walk good for wild flowers and river views.

I enjoyed the trecking at Sleeping Giant State Park. The experience was very good.Had a good view from the top of the park. The authorities should arrange for a proper rest room facility for the visitors. Though the restrooms were there it was not maintained properly and there was no water there.

Sleeping Giant is a pretty well kept secret. Well maintained trails, from very simple to challenging fun for family or a solo hike any time of year.

Great views of the surrounding area all the way to the harbor. A variety of reasonable hikes for all age levels. From the Tower Trail (basically a dirt road with lots of switchbacks) to my favorite, the blue trail up the head (more difficult, steep and goes up the rock face). Nice areas for a picnic too.
