If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to spend the night this place is okay. Other than that I would stay away.
Cons: Take a close look at the hotel exterior pictures. This is a hotel where the doors open to the outside, not a hallway. The nightime pictures make this place look much more elegant than it is. You can scratch "pool" off the amenities. The water was so cloudy you couldn't see the bottom; we wouldn't go near it. There is no elevator. If you are on the second floor, you need to drag your luggage down a dingy, narrow hallway and up a dingy stairway.

Pros: Although outdated (1980's style), the room was clean and everything worked (except for an unplugged floor lamp, with a broken switch, stuck in a corner) The breakfast was okay; the usual, cereal, yogurt, bagels, english muffins, fruit, etc. The location itself is not attractive, but it is convenient to getting on I-95 and only a few minutes to Mystic, where we spent most of our time. The staff was available and helpful, although not especially energetic.

First of all, my wife and are not hotel/motel snobs. We like a clean, safe place to stay for a reasonable price. We were there to take our 8 year old daughter to Mystic Aquarium. With this hotel we feel we got a great value. The pool was clean, warm and nice. The pool water temperature was slightly cooler than the pool room air so getting in and out was not unpleasant. When we arrived we found our room had no fridge/microwave. I asked the lady at the front desk if we could upgrade to one. She gladly did (on a weekend no less!) with no additional fee. The breakfast was usual fair - bagles, danish, coffee/tea, fruit loops or rasin bran, orange or apple juice and jellies/jams.
The room was nice, everything clean. The bed was comfortable - I'd say the bedding would need replacing in the next 16-18 months.
Pro's: VERY friendly and helpful, clean, reasonable.
Con's: Rasin Bran was a bit stale.

We spent a lot of time looking at reviews online, comparing prices, cleanliness, etc. I find I am super picky; I don't like smelly, smokey rooms or threadbare bedding, dirty bathrooms. We finally picked this one for our daytrip to Mystic, Hammonasset, then night time play at Mohegan Sun. During check-in the staff we encountered was very helpful and nice. We had requested a non-smoking room w /one double/queen bed. First thing we checked was sheets/bedding. Nice little down comforter, crisp bedding. The bathroom was standard hotel bathroom but incredibly clean. All the amenities you'd expect in a a basic hotel, but done very well. We had trouble w/ our keys at one point, but when we went to the office to have it checked out, no problem getting two news ones. Overall I really liked this visit to the Quality Inn in Groton, I would definately recommend it.

We stayed at this hotel after a concert at Mohegan Sun. Despite what some others have said, we found it to be clean and comfortable. Yes, the bathroom was a bit small, but clean. We had no problems with the staff, who were friendly. The entire town was in the middle of a power outage when we arrived, so we couldn't check in when we wanted. They lady at the desk was very nice and apologetic. Dissapointing, but beyond their control. The hotel was a bit off the beaten path, but still only about 15 minutes from the casino. The breakfast was basically muffins, bagels, juice, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, yogurt etc. No hot items, but a decent variety.

Bottom line: if you're expecting the Hilton or a casino hotel room, this is not it. However, it was clean, friendly, relatively close to the casino and fairly inexpensive. All in all, if I were visiting the area on a budget again, I would return.

We ended up staying here because my fiance got a big discount because of his job. I would not recommend this place at all. The location is not the nicest area. The staff was strange and unprofessional. The room was very tiny and dirty. The bed was hard and stained. Two of the lamps would not work. The bathroom was awful. There was blood splatter on the bathroom door, the shower had mold and the shower head was broken and squirted water everywhere. It was around 4 a.m. when we arrived so we were stuck. Maybe we just had a bad room, but I think it might have been better to sleep in the car then to sleep in that room.

Decided to make a last minute Memorial Day getaway to Mystic and decided to stay in Groton at the Quality Inn since the hotels were a bit more reasonable.

Checked in a little early with no problems and I was pleasantly surprised with our room. (non-smoking double) It looks like the carpet and bed linens were brand new and the room was spotless. Had no problems with the free WiFi connection either.

Did not try continental breakfast, instead make a right out of the hotel and go down Bridge st. to Norm's diner- awesome service or if you are looking for good bar food near the hotel definitely check out the 99 restaurant which would be located if you make a left out of the hotel onto Bridge St.

Overall, was very pleased with the Quality inn and would stay again!

We stayed one night on a Saturday for a graduation the next day. We wanted a quiet room and stayed in room 355. Around 9am the next morning we heard an earthshattering sound (like drilling) that went on for several minutes. We heard it later again around 10:15am. We also did not realize that the continental breakfast ended at 10am, no one at the front desk informed us of this at check in so we missed it and when we asked for juice or food they said no. Other than that, the stay was fine for one night. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean although the water was not as warm as I normally liked it. It never really got hot. One of the bath towels was misplaced, so at first I thought they forgot to give us two, but I found it on the nightstand next to the bathroom. There was a menu in the room with the tourist info for a local pizza/sandwich eatery in the area that delivered our meals right to the room door. This was nice because we didn't need to go anywhere. Although not cheap, we bought three entrees with salads, drinks and mozzarella sticks came to $45. (Just so you know, if you keep driving down Bridge Street there is a 99 Restaurant that I saw when we left the next day.) The front desk people were nice and professional but did not seem as well informed as they should have been, one of them could not give us directions to our room (maybe he was new?). I used the internet computer downstairs with ease to check e-mail and such, that was a plus. By the way, we used Yellow Cab company to take us to the graduation, they picked us up within 10-15 minutes and were more available than the other cab companies. We paid $140 for the night which isn't too bad, but we could have had just as good a stay at Hojo's for $40 less.
