It seemed like they assigned the worst room in the hotel to my mom and I. The room appeared dirty, stains on the carpet, tired looking blankets and dingy wallpaper. My mom checked for 'bed bugs' by lifting the mattress and found 2 porn magazines under one and a empty box of cigarettes under the other even though this was a non-smoking room. Given the proximity of the room to the front desk, we believed the workers used this room at their own disposal. Since the room we were assigned was directly across from a lobby door that provided access to the hallway, I was awake until 3am since it would slam shut every 10 minutes as someone walked through. I informed the front desk clerk of this racket in the morning and all she said was 'sorry'. And one final comment- It was chilly in the room and my mom turned on the heat and it immediately filled the room with a smell likened to burning tires and the fire alarm in the room immediately sounded at 2am. I am embarrassed I booked this room for my birthday getaway.

My husband, adult daughter, and I just returned from this hotel. It's 10 min. from Mohegan Sun and 30 minutes from Misquamicut Beach, RI. We usually stay at the Cristata Inn Best Western in Uncasville but they were full so we tried this one for a change. The Olympic is not quite as good, lacking the large rooms and good continiental breakfasts. Groton however is more scenic. We really enjoyed visiting the Nautilus Submarine Museum which was free of charge and we went aboard the sub as part of the tour. We also ate at the Waterfront Restaurant which was good. Back to the Olympic... The rooms had a bit of an off smell, the kind you get from too many coverup cleaning products. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. I read complaints about the air conditioner noise but it wasn't too much for us. I also read complaints about the thin walls. Again, no complaints here. As a matter of fact, we twice heard a crying baby when we passed by our neighbor's door but never heard the baby from our room! The pool was clean and only a little on the cool side. The hot tub/spa tended to foam up when the jets were on making me wonder about the maintenance. Flanigan's Restaurant is quite good! The menu choices always satisfied even surprised us. Many people take advantage of room service. We enjoyed our snacks at 10:00pm. We would be happy to return. Expedia booked our stay after they gave us a lower rate than the Best Western website could give us. Oddly enough, the hotel would not match the Expedia rate. $87 per night in the middle of July, the high season.

We went up to celebrate my husband's birthday at Mohegan Sun this weekend and booked this hotel thinking that it would be quaint and convenient. Unfortunately, it was a really disappointing stay. The lobby looked like it hadn't been updated in 20 years, the elevator creaked and seemed frighteningly unstable, and the room was dirty and depressing. (there were french fries on the floor in front of our room that no one bothered to clean up during our 2 day stay.)The walls were very thin and you could hear guests coming and going.
Even eating at Flanagans-their in house restaurant was a disappointment. Although the food was decent, the service was not. Needless to say, I spoke with one of the owners, Chris. He was very unaccomodating and disinterested in making anything better. He just didn't seem to care. It really ended the birthday weekend on a sour note. Unless you are in state of desperation, I would NOT recommend you stay at this dump.
Sad and depressing.

This hotel looks decent on the outside and inside and the location is convenient. However, the walls are inexcusably thin. When the family staying next to us got up at 7AM on a Sunday morning, we could not help but listen to their conversations about where to eat, what they wanted to do first, and who got to shower first. It was like we were in the room with them. We will never stay here again, and it will make us think twice about the Best Western brand name.

We woke in the morning to the sound of water "raining" down from the 4th floor bathroom. When we complained we were told there is no way of getting hold of a manager so call later.
We called numerous times and still no manager was on duty.
After finally talking to someone I was offered $25 off my bill.
He told me that my stay was satisfactory until the morning so he didn't see the need to refund any money.
If you agree with this type of thinking then go ahead and book.
I, however, feel that no matter how good a time it was, having sewer pour into your room is reason enough to figure the stay was unsatisfactory!!
