“Much improved”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

I have been to the fisherman twice in the past two weeks. Once for a birthday party and once for lunch.

Both times the food was excellent and the wait
Staff very attentive.

We will be returning shortly

“nothing exceptual”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2013

On a seasonal winter Saturday night the restaurant was not crowded. The food was average ai had stuff sole and my partner had scallops both dishes were well prepared and priced right. Service was not crisp for a slow night we waited more than 5 minutes before someone approached our table.

“Nice place to eat. Great food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Four of us went out to the Fisherman. The beef was great, and cooked to perfection. The seafood was also cooked to perfection, as you would expect. They have bread with garlic butter that is fresh made that comes with your meal for the table. The atmosphere is nice. Inside the restaurant was currently under going up grades. Outside views were gorgeous, right on the water. They do have an outside patio, but it was raining so we chose to eat inside. The staff was nice but a bit slow... not that it took a long time for them to get us what we asked for, just too long of a wait between dishes. This did not bother us because we were busy talking with long lost friends. We did see it bothering some others with small children. I'm sure if we asked them to speed up the meal they would have. Appetizers- They were very good also. Try the coconut shrimp....I could have had these for dinner. We did not have dessert- too stuffed, but they did look good at other tables. Menu- They have a Bar menu and a table menu. They said we could order off of the bar menu if we wanted to. They do post a menu on their website. Cost- Much cheaper than I expected. You would think being on the edge of Groton long point it would be really expensive, but it wasn't. It was worth the trip.

“Food was good but boy is the place dirty and needs a renovation”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012

When you look up drab in the dictionary, there should be a picture of the Fisherman. There is no decor. The carpet is so worn and filthy that I should have left after my first impression. (see picture of carpet next to the table). There are spare chairs just sitting against the walls, the temperature was very cold. The place really just looked like it has not been updated since the 1980's. Needs a serious refresh and a good vacuuming. I know the place is all about the view but at night you can't see anything. There should be lights outside so you can at least some of the shore.

Service was good (waitress was very nice). Food was nothing to write home about. With all the good restaurants in the Mystic area, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
