A nice atmosphere. Really average food. Really average service, but friendly.

The french onion soup was average, at best. The Shepherd's pie was too salty, the Corned Beef sandwich was good, but the Guinness stew, although tasty, had almost no beef at all. The atmosphere in the bar is what you would expect from a Pub - and it lives up to a pub reputation, but the adjacent dining room is bare and lacks atmosphere. The first 2 beers I ordered they were out of.....

There are better Irish pubs in the greater Hartford area, so we won't be back here.

Decent place to have a few beers and glass of Jameson. It looks like an Irish pub - lotsa wood. But, the food is terrible and the service is slow and not good. They seem understaffed and the staff, although extremely pleasant, is untrained. I've tried to support the place by suggesting it for a few drinks after work with friends, but the general preference is to go to J. Gilberts or somewhere else.

Friend picked this place for lunch. Few patrons for 1pm mid week lunch. Service was great and so were our meals; Irish Stew, Shepard Pie and Irish Breakfast. Drinks were great too!

...just OK on this particular day.
We went there late on a Sunday morning to watch EPL soccer and to have a few beers, after we just played our own soccer match.
I ordered the traditional Irish breakfast. The sausages were hard, not really tasty. There wasn't enough bread. Not impressed at all with this dish, considering it's an Irish pub and it's supposedly an Irish breakfast.
However, Hanafin's is still a great place to have a few pints, watch a match (only one large screen TV, and I believe it's only put on when there's a big match/game on), and to have some conversation.
My prior visit I had the shepherd's pie and that was pretty good.
Overall, Hanafin's is the best place in town to have a drink.

The atmosphere is great and if you visit on Sunday or Thursday you will find live Irish music, a rare treat.

Unfortunately, the service while friendly is God-awful slow. It doesn't matter if you sit at the bar on a Thursday afternoon or at a table on a Saturday night slow, slow, slow.

The food, they do hands down have the best corned beef in Ct, if it makes it to your table, and the Irish stew is also very good but the service negates this.

On our last visit, 2 couples, the fish and chips was delivered to the table first and lukewarm and was ice cold by the time the other 3 entrees arrived. A pity as the fish would have been great if hot. The shepards pie was dry, left in the oven far too long. The sale looked lie it was put together by a 10 year old and slathered in dressing, the sole positive was the Reuben with the great corned beef.

The owners put a lot into this pub and it will definitely be successful but not with this poor service even more so when you consider there are four restaurants in walking distance all with service you don't mind paying for.
