“Typical Glastonbury Snobbery”
Reviewed April 2, 2012

One thing you will notice at this if you have visited the Hanafins in New London is that the owner is preying on patrons to pay inflated glastonbury prices. For example, the same scotch that sells at the New London pub (Writer's Tears) is $10 more! Service has been weak from the start and has been given many more chances to show improvement. Typically this has been in the form of slow service (even when slow) and being given the wrong food. Familiar patrons or ones that may have made the trek to support the new pub can be greeted as nothing more than potential dollar signs. There is no interest in valuing regulars. The food is good enough. The selection of beers is very good. The prices and service are shameful.

“A good American / Irish pub.”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

This is exactly what I'd expect at a good American / Irish pub. Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks and other brews with good pub food. It noisy and busy and Thursday nights the Celtic music performers bring their fiddles, guitars, banjos and pipes. On a very busy evening the service was slow but friendly. The sweet potato fries were OK and the Shepherds Pie was a large portion, it tasted good but not special. The Meatloaf sandwich has caramelized onions and a brown sauce for a sweet flavor. I'll be back on another Thursday.

“Good food, classic pub atmosphere”
Reviewed December 31, 2011

Really enjoyed the wings appetizer prepared with Jameson whiskey, this was the best part of our meal. Lots of Irish beers on tap. Fish and chips very tasty. Good experience
