After many endless nights of searching the internet for the ideal place for our intimate wedding, my fiancé (now husband) and I came across the Connecticut River Valley Inn. We read loads of reviews and looked at all the photos available and decided it was just what we were looking for. We travelled from England to stay there, so we also had reservations about whether the Inn would live up to the image that the other reviewers had painted.

We needn’t have worried, from the moment we walked through the garden to the door, we were greeted by the beauty of the Inn and its grounds. The pictures on here really don’t do the Inn or grounds justice. The gardens are well maintained, and have various picturesque focal points, which will only look better with age as the younger plants mature and others grow fully around the new arbour. The only way I could truly describe the setting is to say it was like stepping into a beautiful living painting.

I can’t recommend this Inn enough to anyone wanting a place for peace and relaxation, a romantic getaway, a wedding (city hall is 5 minutes’ walk to get your marriage licence/certificate), a place to celebrate an anniversary/special occasion, or even a person on a business trip who is looking for a little comfort away from the generic hotels (my husband is very familiar with these) it would also make a lovely gift for birthday or mother’s day treat.

The Inn sits within a calming and peaceful area and despite being close to the road; the only sounds you’ll hear are those of the crickets, the morning birdsong and the harmonious sounds that drift gently across the lawn from the church bells next door.
The Inn itself is full of charm, cosiness and has a warming atmosphere that makes it a home from home.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, nicely lit with very tasteful décor. The beds are really comfortable and well appreciated after a long day.
The rooms we stayed in, the Autumn Glow room and the Winter Solstice room had lovely views from the balcony. The Autumn room is made up of oranges and copper tones that are compliment by the early morning sun that streams through the windows giving it an actual ‘autumn glow’ and the Winter room holds a very bold yet, interchangeable ‘feel’ as its décor fits within the ideals of a bridal room, a room with feminine charm, a romantic crisp winter room retreat and a room that has a strange, but pleasant ‘Alice and wonderland’ feel to it. From the pictures I post you’ll be able to get a taste of the beautifully co-ordinated furnishings, the perfection and detail that have gone into making the rooms live up to their names and each having its own unique style.

The food was lovely; it was our first experience of American home-made waffles, which were great. The family dogs are sweet and no trouble if you’re not a pet lover and the location of the Inn makes it easy to access amenities and places to eat.

Pat, Wayne and Laura were all very helpful and polite. Pat kindly helped us when our car hire plans fell through (as a result of having English debit cards etc) and personally drove us to a car hire place owned by a family member where they were more than happy to accommodate us and rent a car to us. Otherwise we would’ve had to cancel a lot of our planned trips. She is very polite, nice, professional, and intelligent woman who will ‘go the extra mile’ for her guests. She also went to the trouble of making us a Christmas bauble with a piece of her art work inside – which we sadly left behind but hoping to reclaim!)
Wayne supplied us with endless amounts of directions, maps, take out menus (!) and anything else we needed, even collecting us after we drove back the car rental and then kindly giving us a tour of Glastonbury. He’s a funny and interesting guy, he had lots of interesting stories to tell and a wide knowledge of the local history that kept us entertained during our stay.
Laura (who seems to be the wonder woman of the Inn cooking, cleaning, gardening… you name it and she was there:) ) made some of our breakfasts and was around the Inn when we needed things. She is so nice and friendly and you’d be glad you met her.

We would definitely go back again in the future and again and recommend this Inn to anyone in the area!

My wife and I initially picked this B & B because it was the only one in the area that offered king-size beds, but once we arrived we were blown away by the house, the grounds, and the excellent state of the rooms and their appointments.

The innkeepers Pat, Wayne, and Laura were all very friendly and attentive to our needs. We stayed with them for several days, and each morning began with a delicious hand-prepared breakfast.

In summary, an excellent place to stay at a price that is competitive with other B & Bs in the area. We will stay there again the next time we visit !

We were driving home from Maine and needed a place to stay for the night. We saw the reviews on Trip Advisor. We left numerous inquiries asking if there were rooms available. Nobody answered our calls, and nobody returned our messages. We would not have cared but we placed numerous calls to information trying to get the phone #. Phone Information had no record of the business. We should have not bothered any further.

We are sorry that this reviewer had a difficult time reaching us while trying to make a last minute evening reservation. We are not sure why they had a difficult time with our phone number as they appear to be very "internet savvy". (They post many reviews for other properties, restaurants, etc.). They found us on Trip Advisor where our phone number is clearly noted in the header of our listing. We also pay Trip Advisor a hefty fee each year in order to have a DIRECT link to our website (also shown in the header of our listing), where they can get all the info they need about our property and ALSO to make a reservation.

Depending on the time of their call (we actually have no recorded calls from anyone on the night of their attempt to reach us), we may not necessarily respond right away. Most B&B's are run by 1 or 2 people who are up at the crack of dawn each day in order to take care of our guests including a homemade breakfast. For this reason, B&B owners usually retire quite early at night. Unless arrangements are pre-arranged we usually do not have guests check in later than 8PM. B&B's are not hotels with a staff on call 24/7.

We are sorry they waited til the last minute to make a reservation. If they were more prompt, we could have taken care of them and we are sure they would have had a wonderful stay. We invite them to try us again the next time they are in the area.

The room(Summer) was beautiful and comfortable. Great location within short walk of some great restaurants. Didn't realize this before we went, but great place to bring your bikes. Will definitely bring them on our next visit. Hosts are very cordial and accommodating! Thanks for a great stay.

We recently returned from a relaxing, one night get away at the CRVI and had a wonderful time. This historic Inn is gorgeous inside and out and has been meticulously maintained by owners Pat and Wayne. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, including the bathrooms. We spent the afternoon exploring the shopping district of Glastonbury by foot and then ambled down to the river, just a short walk from the Inn. After enjoying a glass of wine and some reading on the deck, we had dinner in town at a wonderful restaurant. The next morning, Pat made a wonderful breakfast ready for us before we hit the road back home. We wish the get away had been longer, but we plan to return soon.

Room Tip: Each room has a different seasonal theme of decoration but with the same amenities. We stayed in the winter suite and found it very comfortable even in the summer.
