I have been to Max Fish numerous times and each time we go, the service and the food are top notch. Let's start with the staff... They are all not only familiar with every dish on the menu but apparently schooled in the right wines to accompany a particular dish as well! The menu changes seasonally in order to bring the diner the freshest of fresh vegetables. I had the baked Lobster stuffed with shrimp and crab meat stuffing that was simply to die for! The flavours, the melted butter and the aroma make you not want to leave- ever! The creamy mashed potatoes and broiled asparagus were delightful. I'll admit I tend to eat the same things often so as far as desert is concerned it's always the Hot Fudge to the Max. This amazing combination of hot fudge, vanilla ice cream whipped cream and caramelized bananas. In addition to that because it was my birthday, just the mention of Tiramisu brought a surprise Tiramisu from their sister restaurant next door- Max Amore. For a special occasion or just because to deserve it... Go to Max Fish! You will love it. Well worth the drive from anywhere. We drive 45 minutes to get there and do it with regularity!

It's been a few years since I have been to Glastonbury, but what an addition Max Fish is to the evening scene in town. The happy hour is fantastic, great little plates of wonderful seafood. I could eat there every night of the week.

The food here is just okay. Hit or miss as far as food quality and portion size. Fish portion small and cole slaw a bit old. Other items just okay, nothing spectacular. Big plates but not much on them. Service is a bit too over the top for the type of food they are serving. No real reason to race back here...

This review pertains only to the "Happy Hour" that Max Fish offers Monday through Friday 4:00 PM to 6 PM, served only in the bar area. Firstly, the friendly, modern atmosphere has plenty of room to make one's group cozy, classy and relaxed. Noise is moderate even when nearly full. Five dollar wines, beer, & cocktails are limited but available. Two wonderful, crispy crab sliders with a of peppery taste & chuck-full of crab are $4 as are the terrific hamburger sliders. But the STAR of the the show are the fresh, briny oysters served on ice with two great sauces which are only $1 each. Wow the best deal in town if you enjoy fresh oysters. My wife had four or five "small plate" scallops that were perfectly cooked & nicely presented. We can't wait to go back & experience their dinner menu. Once again the "Max" group lives up to their fine reputation in exquisite, eclectic menus & fine dining. Go there...you won't be disappointed.

I was traveling for business in Glastonbury/Rocky Hill and decided to go across the street from my hotel for Max Fish's reverse happy hour. Where I'm from in NC, happy hour doesn't exist anyway, but I found it even more exciting that it was later in the evening than a traditional happy hour. My colleague and I enjoyed a glass of $5 wine, and there were multiple other items on the menu that sounded delectable. The bar area was nice, the staff was attentive, and if I had been in town longer, I would have enjoyed sitting down there for a full meal. The atmosphere was also very classy.
