“A definite "YES" - We have already reserved our next stay there!”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We were dropping our daughter off at college last weekend, and this hotel was one of the recommended hotels on the college’s website and it also had great reviews on TripAdvisor. My wife and I liked it so much, we have already made reservations there for Parent’s Weekend.

Complimentary breakfast – Very good. Selection of six cold cereals (in small 1 ounce boxes instead of the usual large cereal dispensers), hot oatmeal, OJ, apple juice, cranberry juice, breads, bagels, muffins, pre-made ham and cheese omelets, make-your-own waffles, and three flavors of yogurt. Regular and skim milk are available.

Room – “Regular” style room with a King size bed is HUGE (about 22' x 16', plus a 5’ x 9’ “entry” when you walk into the room between the door and the main part of the room). (The “Suite” style room is probably even larger). Closet 2’ x 3’ with regular size wooden hangers that are removable. The room is well lit. Our room did not include either a refrig. or a microwave, but the front desk staff was happy to keep an item that we needed refrigerated in a refrig. behind the front desk.

Shower – a large walk in shower (about 3’ x 5.5’, no bathtub), very strong water pressure, excellent shower head nozzle, and water gets comfortably hot. Bathroom is large - about 9' x 5.5', including a 2’ wide sink/vanity and excluding the shower.

Towels - good size, fairly thick

Toilet paper and tissues – adequate thickness and softness.

Bathroom amenities – good quality shampoo, conditioner and soap.

One King Size Bed - Very comfortable with clean sheets.

Pillows – comfortable.

Lapdesk in room.

Room curtains - kept the room nice and dark in the morning.

Outlets – Three very accessible outlets – two on top of the bedside table, one on top of the desk.

Coffeemaker in room.

Hallways - wide and well lit.

A business office on the lobby level with two relatively new and fast computers and a good printer.

Staff- friendly and helpful.

Fitness Room- 2 good treadmills and a stationary bike (I didn’t try the bike), a good multi-station weight machine, free weights, an exercise mat, a workout bench and 4 medicine balls of different weights. The personal TVs attached to the front of the treadmills did not seem to work (although I didn’t ask the staff for help with them). The room could have been a couple of degrees cooler.

Pool - decent size and looked very clean. There is also a whirlpool – we didn’t see what it looked like, though.

Hotel location – off of a main street - appears to be a safe area.

Liked — HUGE clean, comfortable room and hot shower, friendly staff and variety of apparatuses in the Fitness Room.

Disliked — no refrig. or microwave in room – although that was a minor inconvenience for us.

Dear AGoodConsumer:

Thank you so much for taking time to post a lengthy review on your stay with us. I can only imagine how stressful it was dropping your daughter off at college. I am happy that we were able to make you comfortable during this busy weekend. Please contact me and let me know when your future reservations are for and I will place a request on the reservation for a refrigerator.
Looking forward to seeing you again!

Excellent personnel--very helpful and courteous. Love the Hampton beds--plush and comfortable. Will stay here again when I visit family in Hartford. Great breakfast starts off the day just the right way.

We requested a handicap-accessible room, and WOW - was it nice. The roll-in shower was excellent, and we really enjoyed our stay there. The staff was most courteous, and the complementary breakfast was good, not great.

We will certainly stay there again on our next trip.

You'll see all the usual amenities w/ pool, exercise room, free breakfast, and new furniture. But it's in better shape than average w/ a nice looking lobby.

The food for breakfast actually changed day to day and was actually no unpleasant. The staff were very friendly and cheerful.

Only down sides were that the hot tub was under repair and the 2nd day the locks to the gym and pool failed - they kept them open so they could be used.

Room Tip: Avoid being near the elevators on the 2nd floor - the sound from the motor is loud and constant duri...

We stayed here for 3 nights. Arrived to find a broken lock. The "house man" was very good and helped us fix it (though with masking tape). The staff was very accommodating to requests that if our luggage (lost at airport) arrived in the middle of the night to not call, and to hold the maintenance request in the morning until we told them we were awake. The hotel was sold out which was why we were not offered a new room. The next morning the maintenance man seemed to disagree with me that the lock was broken and told me to "push down harder". No - the lock was broken. Housekeeping wasn't able to get in either due to the lock. To the front desk staff credit, they handled it well and we were "upgraded" to a king suite. Nice, but we did need the two queen beds (careful, - they called them two king beds - clearly they are queen size). The hot tube was under repair which caused us not to be able to use the pool during the day. While we could have - the noise was too much for small children.
After those negative things - I would say that the hotel is VERY quiet. It was full of bikers and we couldn't here a peep form neighbors. The ventilation system is good and not too noisy, nor is it the kind that incessantly goes on and off or is always on. The included breakfast is good and they keep it open until about 10:30 to accommodate west coast time zone stragglers, even though it closes at 10. There are is always tea and coffee and mostly always cookies and apples out. Upon checkout we commented to the staff that the lock situation with the maintenance man really needed to be paid attention to. To our GREAT surprise, they comped the whole stay.
If you stay at enough hotels you will hit some bumps - no facility is perfect. They handled this with grace and professionalism. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Away from elevator.

An excellent place to stay that is close to major highways, very clean rooms and nicely designed, and wonderfully kind, helpful and sincere staff. The breakfast choices were many and the food was hot.

Like all Hampton Inns, this is not a luxury property but it is family friendly and well maintained. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a suite rather than a regular-sized room. I'd guess from the size of the suite that the average room is not very large. The suite wasn't two rooms but a nicely sized room partitioned by a long desk. If you expected to have privacy so one person could sleep while the other had on all the lights or expected a quiet area to place a crib while you kept on the lights, you would be disappointed. However, if you just wanted a larger room, the suites are a good choice.

Room Tip: The neighborhood is quiet enough that the only noise is from other families in the hallways and publ...
