The ancient and fabled Griswold Inn is located in the heart of Essex, literally next door to many small shops and boutiques, and minutes away from the Essex wharf and Maritime Museum. The Inn dates back to 1776, Revolutionary War naval construction, and even a destructive British raid during the War of 1812. History abounds, particularly in the various dining rooms decorated with an excellent collection of original maritime paintings.
Really loaded with atmosphere- and in summer, a venue for visiting pleasure craft sailors as well as land-based tourists from all over the U.S. They have an excellent cuisine served in richly decorated rooms, a variety of drinks; as well as period bedrooms on the upper floors. Particularly appreciated in winter while watching the Super Bowl: a real fire in the fireplace of the Hayden Annex, where the tv is located for individuals or groups to catch up on the outside world. A very historic and enjoyable experience and stay at any season.More
