We reserved 1 night at the Holiday Inn East Hartford through Hotwire. It was a bargain at $46+tax. It was a weekend night and the hotel seemed pretty quiet. The front desk staff was pleasant - when we checked in we were hungry - it was late - and the staff was very helful. The room was large, comfortable and clean - except for the bathroom floor. It suited our purpose as we were just passing through. The indoor pool was a hit with the kids. Hotwire rated it 2 1/2 stars and I would agree with that and not the 3 stars given here. It is an older property, but the rooms seem to have been updated. All in all a decent bargain.

I was quite impressed with this hotel considering some of the horrible reviews it got. It's not bad at all and I was impressed with the staff. The location is so so and if you've never been in that area before make sure you study the roads because the roads signs are non existant. There was free wi-fi (kinda slow but it worked) and the maid service was good. It is an older hotel so there are a few blemishes. I think many people are too picky. There is a bar and restaurant (we didn't go to it but we peeked our heads in). They were nice looking. It was quiet there and the beds were comfortable. The room was quaint. We had a king size and the room came with a TV in an armoir, there was a place to hang your clothes, a ironing board and iron, a desk and a chair in the corner. Our room faced downtown Hartford so we had a nice view of the city. I would stay here again.

I stay on the road for months at a time and the people here really make you feel like part of the family not just a guest.
Having its own restuarant and bar really is great especially in bad weather in the winter months. The rooms are big with plenty of room to work, and are always clean. There are lots of TV channesl and the free wireless internet is also a big plus. You can't go wrong with the price either.

The staff of this hotel were great! they did everything possible to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel is alittle older but the price is right! Plus they have this manager's reception on wednesday evenings with free beverages and food with all the management staff there. they are very socialable. Give this hotel a try.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on a business trip. I would not recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. The room was not clean, especially the bathroom. When I first walked in there was urine on the toilet seat and hair in the tub and burn marks all over the worn vanity...need I say more? I don't believe that the room had been vacuumed or thoroughly dusted in while. The distinctive cobwebs all around the place gave that away. The sheets were pilly and rough and in desperate need of being replaced along with the mattress and pillows. The heater in the room was very loud with only 3 controls; auto, on and off. When on auto it turned itself on and off every 90 seconds. The broken phone in my room never got attention even though I asked about it twice. Their room service, in a word, terrible. They were very quick to deliver but the food was not appetizing at all and when something wasn't available they did not offer substitution, but still charged for it. Items that I requested (i.e. condiments) were always forgotten. I made the mistake of giving it a second and third chance for the sake of convenience and figured if I ordered something different it might be better. Big mistake on my part.

The only saving grace on the hotel's part was that when I checked out and complained, again, they offered to deduct one night's stay. At least they tried to make it right. But it shouldn't have to come down to that. I would recommed that they conduct regular quality checks on their house cleaning staff and on-site restaurant. This 3 star hotel is a more like a 2 star at best.

Have a very bad smell like cigarrette on every floor. Door locks are not working propertly. Air conditioners are noisy and they open your mail. Not recomended at all.

This hotel is ok if you get a really good rate (less than $50 or so a night) but otherwise you probably can do better; an aging facility that has fewer ameneties than other Holiday Inns - however, nothing really too bad...for passing through one night its fine.
