“A Good Hotel”
Reviewed September 7, 2010

Family of four stayed for two nights while attending a local event. Probably the best accomodations you'll find in this neck of the woods. Nothing fancy, did the job and provided a nice place to stay. The room was clean and fresh, beds were comfortable. Staff very friendly. No complaints.

We recently went to a family gathering. Having a large family, we needed off site accommodations. The Comfort Inn in Dayville was basically our only choice, so we went with it, and hoped for the best. We were pleasantly surprised!!!
The hotel was immaculate. We were told they only had smoking rooms available, but our room did not smell, or feel dingy AT ALL. The beds were extremely comfortable. Linens were new, fresh and clean. The room had plenty of plush, fluffy pillows, and cozy comforters folded on the bottom of the beds. Not the typical "hotel bedspread"
We arrived very late, and the staff at the front desk were very helpful in getting us registered quickly.
The kids loved the pool area. It was not huge, nor did it have any frills, but it served it's purpose.
The continental breakfast buffet was the best I've seen at any hotel of this type.
Multiple varieties of cereal, toast, pastries etc. They also offered make -your- own Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon were also offered.
There was plenty of parking, and the parking lot was well lit.
I would highly recommend this hotel, and would definitely use it again if we go back to that area.

I can't see how other guests of this hotel found the staff friendly. The night my wife and i were there, for leaf-peeping in the area, Jeremiah, the counter person, gave us a room right next to the elevator and a huge airconditioning unit right outside of our window. When I called and requested to be moved, he informed me that all the rooms were taken, even though when I checked in, half hour prior to calling him, he told me that I had a choice of rooms on the third floor or the second. However, his refusal to switch rooms was not the worst. His attitude was the nastiest that I have ever met in all my travels and I have been to almost all 48 states and many foreign countries. He certainly managed to ruin my getaway. This person does not belong in the "hospitality" industry. The hotel itself is dated and not as clean as I am accustomed to. If you're in the area, chose another hotel, you never know what you will get in this one

This particular hotel was nothing extraordinary, but was definitely very good. The service at the front desk was great! They knew our names by the time we left our room the first night! Their breakfast is good and the coffee is fresh 24/7. The indoor pool looked nice, but since I didn't realize it was there we hadn't packed our bathing suits. The rooms were clean and the housekeepers pleasant.

There is a bar next door that draws a slightly off beat crowd of locals that seem to get a bit out of control on the weekends. Being fairly isolated in this part of Connecticut, I guess this is their only nightlife available. Good for some hilarious people watching, just don't get too involved! lol!

Overall a nice hotel with friendly staff.

We stayed here for a wedding weekend w/our 2 dogs. They were very friendly and had doggie welcome kits. Ther also gave us a king corner suite near the back stairs for no extra charge. The decor, furnishings, and bedding were as sleek, new, and comfortable as you would find at a much "nicer" chain like a Westin. The bar in the parking lot is a little honky tonky, but funny.

Thank you for writing the review on TripAdvisor.com. We appreciate the feedback and are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We definitely enjoyed having you stay with us!

As of July 20th, the hotel has changed to the Comfort Inn & Suites, keeping the same staff and owners only updating the name and renovating the hotel.

If you are in the area again, please come to the new Comfort Inn & Suites and try our new bedding and new breakfast options at the same great price!

Not too many choices in this area and this one is pretty good. Check in, check out a breeze, indoor pool, serves a decent breakfast, more than the usual continental fare. The only minor complaint is the television reception was not the clearest, then again i didn't complain so it might have been fixed. The restaurant next door is a plus.

This hotel had a point breaker special, only 5000 points for a free night. I took my 9 year old for a "staycation", because it is only about one hour from our home. It has an indoor pool, and a nice FREE breakfast (all on Holiday Inn Points). Pleasantly, they even let me brng our little dog (for 10 bucks a night)! They welcomed him with a doggie bag of bones! The staff is friendly and nice, and there is a good restaurant next door.
It is a nice area to explore, good shopping one exit south, and a nice town (Putnam) one exit north. We stayed 2 nights and rented 2 movies, and with the charge for the dog and 10,000 points the total bill was 43.00 (keep in mind that breakfast was included each day)! It was great, I got to read a BOOK, relax, my 9 year old swam for hours and had the pool to herself. This is a nice little hotel, in a lovely part of CT.
