“Very Good Food in Beautiful Setting”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Five of us met for lunch here yesterday. We met here as it halfway between our homes in Avon and Long Island. It was our first visit and we all enjoyed the dining experience. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Our server was pleasant and very efficient. The restaurant overlooks the Richter Park Golf Course, quite beautiful this time of year with the snow cover. The restaurant has a brunch menu with both breakfast and lunch items with a complimentary cocktail. Two of us had red snapper which was fresh and delicious and served with potato and vegetable. I had rigatoni with sausage from the lunch menu and it was hearty and delicious, with a light tomato sauce. Prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is high. We would definitely return when we are in the Danbury area.

“Best Restaurant in Danbury--Period!”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

This is a hidden jewel in Danbury. Located at a public golf course, one would not expect to find such an amazing place. The service, wine selection, and food quality is unmatched in the town.

“Excellent food, Excellent Service”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

We were looking for an upscale restaurant in the Danbury area but the first three we called did not take reservations for four on a Friday night. Since we did not relish sitting in the bar area for an hour or so on our way home to Central CT, we continued our calls and on the fourth call found the Cafe on the Green which did take our reservation. This was an very fortunate outcome. Tucked away in the hills but only five minutes from I-84, The Cafe was a great find. The food is Continental with an Italian flair but closer to Continental than the usual Italian; all four dishes which we had were excellent in quality, preparation and presentation. Service was very helpful and efficient and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. We particularly appreciated the tables being well spaced even on a crowded Friday night. Considering the quality of the food and the very comfortable dining experience, the cost was very reasonable.

“Very good food and attentive service”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

One might not think to go to a public golf course for a top-notch meal, but Cafe on the Green is definitely top-notch. It is Continental cuisine, with an Italian bent. The portions are not enormous so one doesn't leave feeling overly stuffed unless you order a lot of food. We have spent two Thanksgivings there and it used to be one of our favorite "special-occasion" restaurants. We haven't been back for a while because the menu hasn't changed in quite some time. If we have a hankering for a special item, we might go back, but the prices are not conducive to frequent visits.
