From the exterior one does not expect much (sharing a parking lot with a car wash), but once inside one feels that a great experience is about to happen...and, it does not dissapoint..friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff...host/hostess accomodating...varied and different seasonal menu...food has been delicious (been there numerous times) ..extensive wine and beer choices...the bar scene is alive and separated by a wall....only slight negative is the noise level, but, I guess that comes with popularity....go, enjoy and expect to feel that you must return...

decided to try this local hot-spot on a saturday evening, based on other reviews and an encouraging website touting "healthy, locally sourced, unique, and delicious food". decor looked very similar to the other restaurants along Mill Plain Rd. which has become a danbury dining mecca. we made a reservation and checked out the menu online and then decided to eat at the bar area since were were not ordering major entrees. we quickly realized that it was extremely loud in the bar area and adding to the noise was a party of about 12 women celebrating loudly and exchanging gifts. our server, who has been mentioned in past reviews as being really knowledgeable and friendly, was just that. he recommended a tasty pinot noir which we enjoyed but they seemed to have run out of by the time we were ready for a second glass. we started with the calamari, which was nicely fried and a good variety of pieces. however, the garlic ailoi and lemon creme mayonnaise's were bland and essentially tasteless. the pasta special with sausage and olives was overcooked, and i mean very overcooked. I had the cod tacos which were fried, greasy and bland. barely ate one and opened the second to find oxidized guacamole tucked inside, among other ingredients. that was it for us.

so to summarize: service- good thanks to us lucking out and getting the favorite server of the day. food- just not good. decor- familiar. noise level- off scale. menu states they have "local, organic, sustainability raised harvested ingredients" in all their dishes as a side-note but this is not identified on the individual descriptions of each dish. guess we'll just have to take their word for it....hmm, or ask the server to fill in the blanks.
maybe we'll go back again and sit in the dining room just to get a different perspective and try the food one more time. maybe, maybe not.

You would never know what a gem MP is from it's storefront in a small strip mall. They capitalize on the farm to table concept and it is well done. Great, casual atmosphere, professional and extremely pleasant staff! The food is delicious, large portions, great burgers, served with yummy fries on a wooden cutting board, slightly awkward to use as a plate, but unique touch. Dined with our 13 year old and they were very accomodating with "small" portions. Look forward to returning with friends and trying many more of the interesting dinner choices. Make a reservation!

Ate lunch at Market Place yesterday because it had been so highly praised by a friend, Yes the place is lovely, and has an ambitious menu, if only the chef had been paying attention to the food. There is an impressive beer on tap list and the bar looked like a nice place to hang out, hope that the snacks on that side are better than what we were served.
The shrimp and grits appetizer: yuck. the grits were not cooked, they were sandy and grainy, the grilled shrimp on top was tasty but could do nothing to save the mess underneath.
To be fair the hangar steak was perfectly cooked and sauced, but it came with a smear of runny 'mashed' potatoes that were more like potato soup. The carrots that came with it were pretty but mushy.
The risotto had a strange chemical taste, and was oily, not creamy, more like a side of rice pilaf.
My particular disappointment: the squid ink pasta with scallops and shrimp. The shrimp was the same grilled ones from the grits, and the scallop was just ONE cut in half. the seafood is used as a garnish, not incorporated in anyway with the pasta, The pasta itself is sauced with a red sauce that has many ingredients listed but has a thick sweet taste more like Campbell's tomato soup.
We really wanted to love this restaurant, it is so pretty, and close to home.... the waitress had a bit of a problem, when she was picking up the empty plates she POINTED at some used cutlery on the table and waited for us to hand it to her. If only she had been as nice as the fellow keeping our water glasses full.

Thanks to TripAdvisor for bringing this our attention and the GPS for getting us there. Without either, unless someone sends you there, there's little chance of stumbling on it. It's set back on in strip mall that on the other end is anchored by quickie lube with the building dominated on the street side by prominent garage doors. Not likely to pull in even if you did see it, but then that would be your loss.

One visit is a bit early to make a call, but this one is pretty unmistakable, and the answer is is good. We had the market special seafood appy which is a nice plate be-decked with ice and on that four kinds of seafood. Sold for multiples of two, each gets an oyster, a clam, a shrimp, and some king crab. Seafood is crispy fresh with nice sauces. Straight, pure, simple, finds the mark dead center.

The double pork-chop is every bit as good as it is big. And good it is. Nicely crusted, seasoned on the outside with Dijon mustard , just the right amount of perky. Meat itself is lean, thorughly cooked, yet fully moist on the inside. Comes with a polenta, baby zuccini, and tomato based marinated garnish. Bottom line, well balanced, tasty, a generous size, and all for an underpriced $23. My date had the gnocchi, again fresh, crisp, amidst a nice combination of flavorful veggies. Another competitive buy at $23. Both entrees, flavors are distinctive, confident, complement the main ingredient without overpowering.

Place has a nice metro look, and compared to some of the other reviews said, we had no service issues. In fact, service was attentive, prompt, and friendly. We came away having only good things to report. all the way around

Believe their kitchen stays open late, but do check to avoid disappointment.
