“Nice hotel bad wifi”
Reviewed November 24, 2011

Nice hotel and good location but wifi service is weak. My daughter and I couldn't use our IPads because of weak signals.

This La Quinta was about what we've come to expect from this brand: a clean, spacious and comfortable room for a good price. That said, the decision to pair this on a small lot with an Outback Steakhouse is highly questionable.

We stayed on a Friday and the cars of patrons at the Outback got seriously in the way, with some of them blocking the way to the hotel entrance. There were a few spots reserved just for Outback patrons, but they obviously also filled most of the spots which could be used by hotel guests. We wound up parking, on a very cold, windy night, very far from the entrance, around the side and downhill from the restaurant.

Breakfast was OK, though a bit carbo-heavy. We made do with boiled eggs and fruit, avoiding the make-your-own waffles and the various pastries and breads.

The location could not be more convenient if you're driving eastward on I-84. The exit practically dumps you at the driveway and the entrance ramp is just as close.

With all the exotic places to go in this world, here I am reviewing a motel in Danbury, CT!
A motel room is a concrete box with a bed and a bathroom. Not a lot else can be said about it!
But within this context, La Quinta Danbury was a good place to stay. Everything was clean, bordering on spotless. Comfortable bed. The free breakfast was at the upper end of motel-quality breakfasts.
The staff deserve special mention. Everybody was friendly and accommodating, with a tip of the hat to the gals who clean the rooms. Scott (part of the management team) and Matt (who is at the front desk in the evenings) were especially helpful and professional.
I notice other reviewers have complained about the location. I sympathize, but I am not blaming La Quinta. Overall my experience getting around this area was difficult, even with GPS. Hey, that's life in the city.
The attached Outback Steakhouse is a plus, but it's the poor cousin of the Outback chain since they don't have the fun decor with the talking beavers, or whatever. Friendly staff, generous-sized cocktails, and a Prime Rib that was tougher than my New Balance sneakers-be forewarned!
There you have it, 5 stars for a cement box. Compared to other places I've stayed, they deserve it. Just don't expect a chocolate on your pillow!

Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Very clean and friendly staff. Outback restaurant next door was convenient. Breakfast was pretty standard for hotel breakfasts. All in all, have paid a lot more for rooms less comfortable.

Room Tip: Mention trip advisor during checkin.

Clean, safe, convenient, friendly and helpful staff. The room was immaculate. Breakfast was plentiful and good. The front desk (Scott and his associates) was very helpful and professional. The bed was very comfortable and the night was very quiet. We came up to Danbury from New York for a weekend get away and really enjoyed every moment in the hotel.
Thank you for all the extra effort!

We had the pleasure of staying here during the terrible Oct. 29 storm that left thousands of people without electricity, water, and heat in Connecticut. We were lucky to get a room on Thurs. night after 5 days sleeping in front of a fireplace. no lights, water or heat. (A special Thank You to Mike who got us the rooms after Expedia overbooked another hotel and we were told we had no reservation on
Thursday morning.). Housekeeping was excellent even with the hotel at capacity every night. Always asking if we had everything we needed. I just can't compliment all of you enough on how wonderful everyone was, during a terrible time. I know all of the guests that I talked to also had only good things to say about their stay.

We had no problem with the room, the breakfast, or the service. Thus we have given it a three star rating.
All were very good. I do wish more reviewers had mentioned the difficulty they may have encountered finding this hotel. Judging from the reaction at the front desk both on our arrival and checkout our experience was not unusual. In fact I encountered several other guests who also had trouble finding the hotel.

If you decide to go I would recommend you get very specific directions. We spent about 30 minutes driving around Danbury, asking various people for directions and even then
had quite a challenge getting there.

The wifi did not work in the room. It kept cutting in and out for moments at a time thus was unusable. When we checked out I did inform the front desk but they had no comment.

Lastly the parking was not very convenient for bringing things into the hotel. It was very limited close to the front door. We had to park quite a distance from the entrance.

Would we return - no.
