The menu is large = good. Everything we ordered was burned or over-cooked. Nothing looked fresh. Perhaps it was burned in re-heating? Who knows. The staff didn't seem to give a hoot either. Don't bother.

“Poor, Even For A Diner”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

Not much to be said, just wanted a simple diner meal for a quick dinner with the kids. The place is overall pretty worn looking....in need of a re-do/modernizing. That said, if the food is good, not as concerned about the look. But, eggs, pancakes, and a rubin....difficult to cook you say? Well, the pankcakes were doughy and the worst is they gave out little packets of syrup...packets, whatever happened to the syrup bottle on each table? The syrup had a really odd taste (probably plastic) and ruined the already not impressive pancakes...so didn't eat them. The rubin was very greasy and was just okay...the eggs, same, just okay nothing to write home about.

Needless to say, with the number of "good" diners in the area, Windmill should be off your list and should fade into the past just like its decor!

“Classic Diner Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

Over the last 20 years, my family and I have overnighted in Danbury on the way home to Alexandria VA and eaten at the Windmill at least 15 times. Breakfast there has become a tradition, getting us off to a great start the morning of our departure for home. Everything's terrific- coffee, eggs, pancakes, home fries, you name it. Though we haven't tried them, they've even got blintzes. I'm a big fan of the hot Italian sausage with my eggs though the portion is so large I can rarely finish it. The wait staff is pleasant and helpful and the prices are very reasonable. You simply cannot go wrong with a Windmill Diner breakfast.

“Lunch with Friends from NY”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

Met two friends from NY state as it was the 1/2 way point between our homes. There was wholesome food at reasonable prices and quick service. This is exactly what one would expect from a diner, a large menu with a multitude of choices. It is a place I'd return to without hesitation.

“Just a Diner”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

Not saying much to call this the best diner in Danbury. It is ok. The facility is a little tired on the inside and the food is acceptable but not particularly memorable. Fine for eggs and toast and other staples. Service is just ok also.
