“First time guest, a few nice surprises”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013 via mobile

First off-it's an odd looking hotel. There's a swimming pool with a Hugh dome over it-great to read and relax. There is odd white brick, and then it dawned on me- this was originally a motel-type place that was enclosed and renovated.
Anyway, upon check in I was greeted and acknowledged I was a club level traveller. I was given a ice bright red bag with water, popcorn and a granola bar. Nice...I had a question about the event I was attending and was personally walked over to the area and given a quick tour. It was very nice she took the time.
The room was a king, on the 4 th floor. The decor was nice, you can tell from the bathroom tile it's been renovated. The room contains the basis goodies- iron, laundry service , coffee pot, 1 bottled water. It always creeps me out when the coffe pot and its acruterments are kept in the bathroom---
Anyway, the tub, units grey 1980's style, had a big tub! Love that. But what I really liked was the shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and body cream. TEMPLESPA was the brand-actually much nicer then many hotels I have stayed in.another funky aspect to the hotel-the windows. They are half windows. Picture from the ceiling halfway- that's it. The room is much darker due to the size of the windows.
I decided to work out in there gym. It was the basis I, treadmills, universal stations, etc. the pool had a strange black streaky stuff at the bottom. It looked like dirt-but it's an indoor pool?? Hummm

There's a concierge room on the 4 th floor, offering goodies in the am and pm. Maybe I'll check it out.
Best surprise- they leave what looks like a tri-fold card on your bed...it says "sleep tight" and housed aromatherapy cream, calming mist and soothing balm and body and feet....I loved this

This isn't the first time our hotel has been called odd shaped. It is actually a product of 2 additions to the original wing. Anyways, we are happy you enjoyed your stay and the many ammenities we have to offer. Thank you for your review.

Although the location is great geographically for visiting lots of nearby attractions the hotel itself is in an area of strip malls and other commercial businesses. Despite the humble location, this hotel is a gem and that is the lovely surprise. The building is well kept and loaded with amenities. The atrium pool and hot tub are delightful. I brought my daughter and her family over for a swim to take away the February blues. It was a hit! The rooms are spacious, nicely appointed and ours was in the "Quiet Zone". I have had unpleasant experiences in other hotels when room neighbors were partying into the night. At the Crowne Plaza a group of rooms are set aside for those who cherish peace, quiet and a good night's sleep. What a luxury that is. The fitness center is up to date and clean. In addition to plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, a weight machine and free weights there are lockers, showers and a sauna. All this is adjacent to the pool and spa. Nicely done Crowne Plaza! The best part of our stay was the wonderful staff. Chris on the front desk at night welcomed us and made every accommodation possible. He expected and anticipated our every need. Bess, the general manager is a rock star among hotel operators. Her well trained staff are a fine reflection of her leadership. She personally went out of her way to make our stay perfect. If all that isn't enough, the hotel has some online offers that are impossible to overlook. Great accommodations at a very attractive price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the Quiet Zone.

I have stayed here on business trips 3 or 4 times for one night. It is a very comfortable place to stay for this type of trip. The rooms are nice - spacious, love the king bed; great shower fixtures (hey, it's a crucial part of a hotel stay right?).
I used the hot tub once, I enjoyed the pool area with the glass atrium.
One feature I really like is the concierge rooms on each floor - a great place to grab a snack and get breakfast in the morning...really nice.

I will continue coming here for business, as it is very suitable.

Very nice hotel. Bathrooms are so very small. Wish they had a refridgerator.
Beds were very comfortable. Wi fi worked fine. Right off the interstate.
Looks like a great place to hold a conference. Front desk was very nice.
Only 45 minutes to Old Saybrook and the ocean.

Over the Christmas break we moved into the Crowne Plaza - Cromwell for a 4 day girls hockey tournament. The hotel was given rave reviews by everyone on the team (16 families) for their excellent pool area, concierge lounge, restaurant, cleanliness, and the dinner they catered for our team dinner. The dinner went off great and the food was fantastic! The one thing that I found amazing is how excellent the entire hotel staff was and their "yes we can, no problem" attitude. The entire trip was a great success because of the staff and I would highly suggest staying here.

We're happy you and your team enjoyed your stay during the Polar Bear Tournament and would love to have back with us again next year! I hope the team was as successful on the ice as your stay was with us.

Cons first: we had a loud, clanking heating fixture in my room, some parts of the hotel are in need of updating, and the hot tub is more of a lukewarm tub.
On the other hand: beds feel brand new - very comfortable, and isn't that the most important thing? Rooms are fairly spacious, and the staff is excellent. Joe at the bar is great, and Amber and Libby at the front desk were warm, welcoming and very helpful.
