I have been staying at the Cornwall Inn for the last several years and it keeps getting better and better. This time I stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms in the Lodge and I had a great nights sleep. The location is great for hiking, white water rafting and horseback riding.

Also one of the great things about the Cornwall Inn is their restaurant and bar. The food and service was great and it is right on the property. One of the great things about the bar is the people. Both the wait staff and the locals that gather at the bar are friendly and out going.

We recently stayed at the Inn and found the the rooms and price were a great deal! We opted for the lodge for more privacy and discovered that they were all recently redone with nice spacious bathrooms! For $139.00 in the winter with a buy one get one free lift ticket at Mohawk Mtn, you can't beat it! The restaurant was not open but the innkeepers recommended several , a few miles away. We were told the restaurant will reopen in April and hope to be back to enjoy the food, outdoor pool and hot tub. Even in the summer the rate is cheaper than other places that do not offer as much! The continental breakfast was more than adequate for the two of us. Muffins, great granola, (inn made), bagels etc. and good coffee. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful! Overall a pleasant and relaxing stay that didn't break the bank!!!

The sign says "inn," but it's just a motel - and not a very good one, @ that. We stayed in the "lodge," and it was musty, cramped, no electrical outlet in the bathroom! Mattresses on both beds in the room were awful. Musty smelling. All @ exorbitant b & b prices! Also, I resented the fact that they run a restaurant and they can't manage to even serve a hot breakfast! They served cereal, bagels and fruit, of course with coffee and tea. We would definitely not go back and were sorry we forgot to check this sight before we booked!

Hi,

We liked the pictures of their rooms that we saw on their website and decided to stay there.

Our room was in the lodge, I wonder if the inn rooms are a little nicer. The construction type is exactly like a motel, instead of a B&B and we paid B&B Rates.
Carpet floors, and cheap construction, thin walls and tiny bathroom.

They had turned off the gas on the heaters and we had to use the air conditioners (wall units) on heat mode. They were extremely noisy and had no thermostat, so we kept waking up all night to turn them off and on (it was either freezing or too warm and noisy).

The breakfast was in their restaurant and was nice though...

THE CORNWALL INN, Cornwall, CT
My family and I just returned from a weekend at The Cornwall Inn, and we had a great time. We have stayed at The Cornwall Inn several times, but it seems like everytime we go, there is always something new. They now have ski packages with Mohawk Mountain, which we will be booking next time. I felt I had to write something because this place has been very good to us. Something worth mentioning was they had live music this weekend and the band was really fun. I don't know if this is something they do on a regular basis.
I've seen other reviews in the following format - hope you find it helpful.

ROOMS: Rooms are tastefully decorated and well kept. The beds are comfortable and the linens are clean and smell fresh. The bathrooms are very clean and, like the linens, always smell fresh. They have a pet friendly room, but we have never stayed in that room. We have stayed in a number of different rooms and have been very satisfied with the overall decor and cleanliness.

INN DECOR (Inside and Outside): Overall, the inside and outside decor has a country feel - inviting and charming. It's also very quiet. Inside the Inn, there is a restaurant that has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The furniture is comfortable and nothing is ever out of place - attention to detail is top notch. When the weather is warmer, they open up their outside patio. They have an inground pool, which we have used in the Summer. In addition to the pool, the entire pool area is kept clean. While the kids are enjoying themselves in the pool, I'll read my book or magazine. They have a hot tub too, but I personally have not used it. My husband has and he liked it. Plenty of towels and chairs too. The grounds are perfectly manicured, which provides for such a pleasant setting. It's nice that there are plenty of areas to relax alone or with friends and family.

BAR: There is a beautiful bar connected to the restaurant. You can eat at the bar or just kick back and relax with some drinks. Something new worth mentioning is they added a big screen TV to the bar area - nice touch. We watched some of the Duke game this weekend - it was a lot of fun. The bartender , who is an absolute pleasure and treasure, makes incredible drinks. My husband and I were in the mood for Bloody Marys before dinner and they were simply delicious (as they always are). We understand that the mix is homemade. My husband is always trying to replicate the recipe because it is that good. You can eat in the bar area too - there are tables and booths, which are very comfortable.

FOOD: The food is exceptional! This weekend for dinner, my husband ordered the mushroom soup for an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious (he had the salmon for dinner, which was amazing). For dinner, I had the steak, which was prepared to perfection. Hats off to the chef! My kids love the food too (they are 11 and 7), especially the mussels, burgers and the desserts. We always rave about the food, as it is consistently well prepared and delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about our meal! Even the continental breakfast that comes with your stay is fantastic. If you like coffee, you'll have more than one cup, it's that good. They really go out of their way to make sure your meal is not just a meal, but a wonderful experience.

STAFF: What can we say other than exceptional! Everyone is friendly and courteous. Even though it was busy this weekend (holiday weekend), the staff didn't miss a beat. They just make you feel so comfortable, which is refreshing. The owners, Mark and Stacey, are very knowledgeable about the area, which has a lot to offer, you just have ask. We especially love that they always make time to personally chat with us and help us plan our itinerary, as we are not from the area (we are from New Jersey). They are delightful and are happy to oblige with any request. The entire staff goes out of their way to make sure your stay with them is wonderful and memorable.

I hope this review was helpful. We just can't say enough good things about The Cornwall Inn - we really enjoy staying there. We like to book weekend trips throughtout the year to get a vacation from our daily hectic schedules. We always need something to look forward to - it's what keeps us going - ha ha! We have made a lot of wonderful memories (and friends) at The Cornwall Inn, and we are looking forward to making many more! Definitely recommend The Cornwall Inn!
