“Food matches the place”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

Fried food, cheeseburgers, chili dogs. Great place if you're in the mood. Two people was $28.50 (lobster roll, cheeseburger and 2 small sides). A lil pricey for two people considering the meal. There were quite a few people working, but wait time was long for the kind of food being prepared. Would go again, but wouldn't go out of my way.

“Great Food From the Past”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

Harry's Place is a food land mark of Ct.. This place is a blast from the past that gives good old fashioned food of a 1920's era hamburger stand. What's more, is that there is nowhere I'd rather eat on a hot summer night. You still hear people my grandparents' age speaking reverently about stops they made at Harry's fifty years ago, often on the way back from the beach. I have a feeling it probably hasn't changed much since then, and why should it? I've only tried the burgers, dogs, onion rings, and fries but I've never had a meal that was less than excellent. Then to top it all off you can go back for a milkshake or ice cream for dessert.

It may just look like a shack on the side of the road, and it's true that may be what it is, but the Harry's experience is far more. It's a warm night sitting out under the lights with good company and a good meal, maybe a kraut dog or a nice juicy burger so thick it has to be held together with a toothpick. It's unsophisticated but it hits all the right notes, and I'm already counting down the days until next spring's opening.

“Not the "old" Harry's”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

Harry's is an open wooden structure that is very busy in the summer...BUT it's not the same "old" Harry's of yore...hamburgs are smaller, rolls different, and prices have SKY ROCKETED!! We use to go 5-6 times a year to get our hamburg fix all the way from Glastonbury(over thirty miles roundtrip)...but no more!!

“Too much hype”
Reviewed September 4, 2011

I do not like Harry's food. My chili cheese dog was served on a soggy roll that was not toasted like over places do. The chili tasted like canned Hormel chili and the cheese was a piece of hard cheese about to go bad. So disappointed! the french fries are not bad, the burgers are terrible. This is very low quality food, greasy food that is overpriced.
The ice cream is not bad. I had a fish sandwich, on the same pathetic bread and lousy cheese. Yuck You are better off grilling yourself and getting the real charcoal flavor.

“Don't get seafood @ a burger joint!”
Reviewed August 12, 2011

The Sweet: Consistently juicy & perfectly cooked burgers. Large, sweet & yummy fried onion rings. Good large cut fries. Fast service considering crowds. Shady, cool, grassy picnic area. Reasonable prices.
The Sour: Corn & Shrimp bisque too hot, curdled & too spicy. Shrimp way over cooked. Lobster roll had generous portion of lobster but it was overcooked & loaded with strange orange oil. So much so it fell apart when picked up (see photo). Hot dogs are unremarkable. If anyone is familiar with the Seinfeld episode of the "Soup Nazi" the signage directing customers to "Wait Here" & not to approach to counter & also the fact that you have to ask for condiments & utensils is reminiscent of the "No soup for you!" mentality.
