Seems things have changed over time since the new owner took over. At first quality and quantity was good. Todays simple chicken Caesar wrap left me longing for the previous owners. Wrap was stale on the edges....even pointed this out to waitress. Romaine was good, chicken was sparse . Chips are extra salty. Not much on display along bakery lines either. Cases used to be stocked. Hmmmmm. Makes one wonder.

Great baked items and Haney Beverage selection. Clean, country -chic and quick. Attentive staff, easy access off scenic Route 7.

Black Forest Bakery is easy to miss if you are driving up or down Route 7, because it's on Route 44 about 50 feet east of the Route 7 / 44 intersection. We happened upon it and were very pleased with the friendly service, delicious pastries and coffee, and nice variety of menu choices! Will definitely stop in again the next time we're in the area -- but be aware they are only open until 4 PM!

We've been here many times. Thought the homemade pastry superior, loved the scones, the muffins , the breads. Then this visit ... ordered simple hamburgers. One to be plain with a slice of raw onion, the other a Mushroom Swiss burger. To be prepared medium rare. The arrived not only fairly well done as in brown all the way through, but covered in so much black pepper our mouths felt on fire which unfortunately continued for the next hour or so. The pepper being literally burned right into it thus resembling a charcoal briquette. The so called grilled mushrooms were another story. One slice was grilled the the rest were raw as if they merely had been in the same room as the frying pan. The bread was homemade whole wheat but had not been allowed to raise properly and most likely not out into a pre-heated oven as the consistency was hard and heavy and the bottom crust was cement.and truly inedible.
It was late in the afternoon (2 PM) for lunch, but we really didn't need the belly ache for the next hour for the ride home. So disappointing after having enjoyed this place so much in the past. Needless to say we won't try it again. And to top it all off, we had to beg for a copy of the credit card receipt that the waitress didn't know how to print & had to call for help. For $25 for two hamburgers and two cups of coffee, consider this rather outrageous.

Hi Sandra!

We sent you a message to this effect, but it sounds like we really dropped the ball on your order. We've since adjusted our burger recipe (just a dash of salt, pepper & garlic salt!) and we have a new assistant baker so that our breads are left to proof properly. Summer weekend days can be crazy but we think we've got the hang of it now and we'd love the chance to leave a better taste in your mouth - on the house. Sorry for your bad experience and we hope we can make it up to you!

We felt we discovered a secrect bakery - the baked goods were so delishous and the lunch was the best. The homemade soup was the best.
