“Highly Accommodating Management”
Reviewed February 6, 2011

I was here for a business trip with several colleagues. The management checked in with me multiple times to be sure all of our needs were being met as we worked on an important business matter.
Even in a snow storm, the management provided for us to get food for sandwiches even though their restaurant was closed for lunch on weekends.
The management took the initiative that I would not have necessarily expected and anticipated our needs.

My boyfriend and I wanted somewhere to stay for a night for alone time. We had gone on hotwire.com and narrowed down the area to Shelton, CT for a search and as many of you know, hotwire doesn't tell you the hotel until you pay for it. So we found a hotel located within the region for $65 a night. We figured why not, so we booked the hotel. It turned out it was for the Holiday Inn in Bridgeport. At first we were rather hesitant because Bridgeport has several not so good areas, but we figured why not. We arrived at the hotel and the front desk attendent was very friendly and checked us in right away even though we arrived 2 hours early. We went up to our room and were surprised to find a well kept, clean room with a VERY comfortable bed!! :) Needless to say, the hotel was more then we expected and I would definately stay here again.

I stayed at/reviewed this hotel in 2008 when renovations were just under way. This hotel has been transformed from a low-mid level property to probably the nicest Holiday Inn I've visited. The rooms are nicely renovated with pergo flooring entrance way, new carpets and furniture, LG flat screens. Bath remake was unremarkable and not up to par with the substantial room renovations. Pillow menu and nice I-pod clock radio. Complimentary spring water bottles. New cable television service. The real difference I noticed on this visit was to the lobby/lounge area. A cheesey circus themed lounge which closed promptly at 10:00 pm has been replaced by a lively, sleek-designed lounge which was hopping well after I left at 11:00 pm. The lobby had complimentary appetizers and beer/wine in the evening which was pleasant and much welcomed. The staff was very helpful--my original room was next to an elevator shaft and became quite noisy. I was moved without hesitation slightly down the hall. The staff had always been pleasant here but they appear to be especially pleasant now that they are working in a more upscale environment. Book without hesitation.

I stayed in this hotel a couple nights on a business trip. A number of my colleagues have used it as well during the past year, and enjoyed it. The hotel is very nicely decorated, and the rooms and beds are extremely comfortable. There is a great pool, and a good fitness center too. The lobby is a relaxing place to sit, with comfortable chairs and fountains. The breakfast buffet is excellent and you won't come away hungry.

A few reviewers thought the neighborhood was bad. I had no problems with it. My co-worker and I (both female) walked out to restaurants in the evening, and took a walk in the early morning too. There are government buildings, library, museums, parks nearby. It's true that there may be a pawn shop next to a fine restaurant, but we did not feel unsafe. Of course, we weren't wandering around at midnight either.

Cafe Roma is a very good nearby restaurant. We also had an inexpensive and excellent meal at Miss Thelma's, and the owner gave us directions to the Seaside Park beach, which is only a short drive away.

Stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a tour group. Upon arrival the manager made us feel very welcome by inviting us to a welcome reception. This hotel is newly renovated. Everything in the room was new very clean and confortable. The room was also equipped with a Large flat screen TV. The staff was helpfull and courteous. We had the buffet breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant. Both meals were very good. We would stay at this hotel again.

Stayed at Holiday Inn Bridgeport this past Memorial Day weekend. When we last stayed here 2 years ago, we observed that the hotel was quite worn down and clearly needed a makeover. Well, the makeover occurred. Hotel was recently renovated, and it is much nicer. Rooms have brand new bedding which is very comfortable, new carpets, new furniture, and large flat screen tvs (although not a very wide selection of free channels: I guess they want you to pay for the on demand movies). Rooms are also good size. workout room has a multi service universal machine along with a few new weight machines. Had a very good meal in the hotel restaurant, restaurant does not have a wide selection of menu choices, but the food is good. Filet Mignon cut easily with a butter knife. If you like southern style food, walk 1/2 block from hotel to Miss Thelma's which is also a very good restaurant. Downtown Bridgeport is still worn down and rough, safe during the day, would recommend that you exercise common sense caution if going out after dark. I will definintely consider this hotel again next time we are in area.
