truly high quality food, truly home made, they do not just say it, they mean it......a little small in size, but well worth it...

“Great local food, made with too much love and care.”
Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

After waiting an hour, we were finally served. Clearly popular with the locals, many people are coming to eat good food. Granted there is a small kitchen, but having one more person to help run the show, is a necessity if I were to return again anytime soon. Maybe they have tight margins, but making only one tables order at a time really slows the process down. I would say this handy stopped the masses, but sorry to say it will me. Hire another, and you will also get people in and out more efficiently as well.

“Breakfast and Lunch at its Best”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

This is a tiny homey place staffed by a husband and wife team. If you want great food you wait for it. Each order is fresh and made for you. There is little premade food except for the delicious mu.ffins and scones made early in the morning. Lunch sandwiches especially the Mayflower ( a taste of Thanksgiving) are terrific. Imaginative is the key word on Sat and Sun for breakfast specials which look as good as they taste. Not sure what 3KateK 's definition of imaginative is!

“What an overrated place!”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

Charming, yes. Fresh, sure. Imaginative and delicious breakfast--NO WAY! I was amazed that this little hole in the wall could be festooned with banners touting the joint as serving the best breakfast in Fairfield County. Only two blocks away at Harborview Market is a charming atmosphere where fresh, imaginative and TRULY delicious food is served.

I was complete underwhelmed by two sunnyside eggs served with two lacklustre strips of bacon and toast made of packaged, presliced wheat bread. WHAT A BORE! My friend had overly thick pancakes that, for an additional $1.75, might have been served with real maple syrup. YIKES! No fresh baked anything was available in the litte bakery counter (but homemade croissants, muffins and cookies are always abundant--and redolant of butter and love--a few blocks over).

So if you're in Black Rock, miss the "best breakfast" and/or ratchet down your Home on the Range expectations.
