Melasa House
Reviewed January 9, 2014

We picked this hotel for our stay in Lombok over New Year's Eve. And we made our choice based on the reviews we read. As it is off the busy area of Senggigi town, it took the driver awhile to find the place. We were looking for Melasa Hotel but the only signage we saw was 'Melasa House'. I think they need to make their signage more visible. Anyway, it's a private villa located up the hill and the road is not in very good condition. I think the driver must have felt sorry for the car's suspension! Hope they will fix the road soon. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the security guard! Sorry forgot to ask for his name. We saw him playing many roles in the hotel even though he's supposed to be the security guard. He helped us carry our luggage to the room and we saw him teaching another staff to put towers on the sunbathing chairs around the pool. The housekeeping staff were friendly and always greet you with a smile. At night we needed transport to go to Senggigi town for dinner and countdown, so the security guard helped us to call a taxi. However, we waited for some time and was told no taxi, probably because it's peak hours. The security guard actually offered to take us to town with his motor cycle as well as his friends! There were 3 of us, so he called another 2 friends to give us a ride to town. We were really grateful with his gesture! We did offer some petrol money to them to show our appreciation. The security guard even told us to call the hotel or him if we needed transport back after the countdown! So sweet of him! Breakfast at the hotel was great. There were 3 menus to choose from and there were cereals and fruits as well! It was the best breakfast we had in the entire trip! And I also had the best sleep with their comfy mattress and pillows. The room was spacious, clean and well kept. I just want to commend the staff for their exemplary service, and their passion in their job. Pls keep up with the great work & spirits!

Room Tip: They have rooms for 4 persons if you're traveling in group/family. There's a king sized bed...

We stayed for 2 nights in early November and were pleasantly surprised by everything we encountered. Being the only 2 guests we were worried we'd be in the way but how wrong we were, everyone was only too pleased to help us with every request, even dropping us into town to rent a moped and offering to ride it back to the hotel for us!

The rooms are beautifully presented, spacious and well looked after by the extremely friendly and polite staff. No expense has been spared in kitting the rooms out. Breakfast was excellent and again served with friendly polite efficiency. The grounds and pool are to die for, a mini resort of their own and the ground staff always greeted us with a smile whilst going about their work.

If you're looking for a quiet location where you feel as one of the family this is the place for you.

Thanks to Dodi who manages Melasa House with an air of efficiency that is refreshingly friendly in this day and age.

Room Tip: Stay upstairs for the view.

We stayed at Melasa as a couple with a teenage son as we wanted an alternative to the usual hotel stay and we're not disappointed. Yes, it is up on the hill and a little bit of a walk to the beach, but it's actually nice to be off the busy road.

The care and attention of staff was exemplary, especially Farid who arranged an excellent guide (Jeffrey) for us to go exploring waterfalls in the jungle one day and other transport as needed.

We enjoyed the breakfast and pool and in the family room, there was a separate room with bunks for my son to have his privacy.

Of course as we were in Lombok and the people are Moslem there are always mosques nearby: in this case only about 200mt away. If you don't mind being woken up by the call to prayer at 4:30am that will be no problem, otherwise you may like to bring some earplugs. This is a small thing, but something people might like to be aware of, especially if you are not used to Lombok after Bali.

We ate at Warung Menega which was an easy walk from Melasa House, heading into Sengiggi direction, and does great value grilled seafood with tables on the beach.

Room Tip: The family room will sleep 4

I had a chance to stay at the Melasa in Lombok just a few days ago. If your looking for a VERY clean, quiet, great looking place and perfectly located then stay there. The staff was extremely nice and took very good care of us, catered to our every need. We got private car service which is something you dont normally get even at a 5 star hotel. The pool was very clean, modern and fun, breakfast is made to order and caters to western types. Im definitely going back and recommend it. Lives up to the description!!!

A great place to chill out and relax. Also very convenient for day trips up the coast or across to the nearby Gili islands. I much prefrred this quieter alternative to Bali. Friendly and helpful staff who make a delicious English breakfast. My new home away from home!

A little pies of paradise, Melasa House lived up to and exceeded all that was promised on the website. Perched on the hillside over looking the busy village of Melasa just minutes from the buzz of central Sengiggi, we loved watching the local kids playing soccer around the palm tress that are scattered across their pitch and act as opponents.
Breakfast in the breezy open sided dining area was bliss and the standard of the food no matter which option you select is wonderful. The pool area is wonderful and is overlooked by Franks pub, a shrine to his beloved Liverpool FC.
We have traveled the world but have never received such warm and caring service before, Manageress Anin is a star and the driver who will ferry you around the island for the same price as taxi's are great.
All in all I would say anyone who misses out on Melasa House on a trip to Lombok will be the losers.
Thanks to Anin, Frank, Tinni and all the staff and of course those will smaller kids will have the company of Panji Frank and Tinni's great young son.

Room Tip: Family rooms are great

Melasa House is a unique accommodation experience in Lombok. The "Luxury B & B" lives up to its description. It is a successful combination of friendly, welcoming service, as well as beautifully appointed accommodation.
The rooms enjoy spectacular sunset views over coconut palms from a slight elevation, far enough away from the main road to Senggigi to ensure that it is peaceful and quiet, but close enough to normal Lombok life that it is possible to watch local people going about their day-to-day lives.
Breakfast is cooked to order at the time you like, served in a delightful dining space overlooking a garden which is an interesting integration of fruit trees, herbs and colourful shrubs and flowers.
The whole experience - 4 days - was rather like being invited to stay close to a family while still being able to enjoy peace and solitude in my own 5 star space. "Included" as well as "Secluded" - perfect!
Comfortable describes both the accommodation and the service- gentle but unobtrusive people who went out of their way to make me feel at home.
A really refreshing change from the sometimes sanitised, slick and sterile service in bigger resorts and hotels!
