The Chandi Boutique Resort & Spa
Ranked #1 of 5 Hotels in Batu Layar
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 22, 2012

The Chandi is a beautiful boutique hotel featuring only 15 rooms. The project was completed in December 2011 and therefore all furniture provided are brand new. We enjoyed the peace and quiet perfect to rest after months of hectic work and 3 days of trekking in Rinjani.

The only drawbacks are the absence of a real beach, the distance from Senggigi, and the limited menu offered by the restaurant.

Beside these, the Chandi is a perfect getaway for couples seeking time alone and privacy

Room Tip: Choose ocean view, with room 105 to 110 toward the bar (further away from the hotel entrance)

The sun is shining, the water is blue and the swimmingpool is nearby. Our bungalow with ocean view was clean and very beautiful with a outdoor bathroom with all the facilities. A bar and a restaurant nearby on the same area. A lovely breakfast with a choice of continental, american, indonesian of The Chandi! You can go to Senggigi with a taxi or a motor vehicle. We made a trip around and on the 3 Gili islands with a fishingboat and a trip for a day with a taxi to the north and west side of Lombok. The nature is beautiful and the people are friendly and very helpfull. For us: excellent!

We liked this hotel.
A beautiful design and cozy area, comfortable rooms, cleanliness. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean. Linen change every day. One detail - the aircon blowing on the bed. Adjust the flow direction, or risk catching a chill. Excellent staff, always ready to help. Convenient location - no annoying salesmen. If you want souvenirs, cafes - 5 minutes and 1 dollar - and you're in Senggigi. Pool is very good, but do not ignore the sea - a beautiful house reef. We saw a turtle and moray 10 meters from the shore. Do not forget the special coral shoes - just living corals near the shore. The kitchen in a restaurant worthy, has enough choices for breakfast and lunch, and every evening - a special menu from the chef. Guided tours are available at the hotel, the price is the same as in Senggigi. We booked shuttle from and to the airport. A little more expensive but more convenient than to search taxi. Summary relaxation - excellent value for money.

beautiful clean new cottages. the staff are all helpful and friendly.
i would recommend this resort to anyone...they lack of food varieties but so helpful to cook for you if by chance they have the food and ingredient ready in their kitchen regardless the fact they didn't have it in their menu...
we had fried banana served with ice cream for afternoon tea..how nice !!

The 'room' is actually more of a small bungalow/cottage - with their own terrace & open-air bathroom (the showers are totally exposed with to ceiling of any kind). It is very spacious, with king-size bed, flat-screen tv, cupboards and drawers and all the 4-star hotel amenities. The hotel opened late December 2011 & 7 of the 17 rooms are still under construction. But don't worry, you won't be able to tell there's any - the resort looked pretty ready. The area where the hotel is built at used to be a coconut grove (and is still surrounded by coconut trees) - so do prepare to find bugs (including mosquitoes) in and around the room. I think the hotel actually provided mosquito net should you find the bugs too much of a bother. The room also has both ceiling fan and air con. It's also very well-lit should you choose to turn on all of the lights.
The restaurant is quite compact, but pretty artistically decorated and nicely situated by the ocean. F&B is quite pricey. But service is very good, the food is also fairly good (fair portions too). I love their breakfast, it's a la carte, very filling and nicely served w/ a good number of choices. Juices are fresh (I recommend their pineapple juice).
Their bar is awesome. I love the way they built it. Make sure to have your afternoon coffee or cocktails there (happy hour is from 5 - 7 pm).
Wifi connection is good, so if like me you need to get some work done or just want to attend to e-mails, the bar in the afternoon with a laptop makes is just great.
The pool is really nice; clean stone pool with really nice pool deck and just the most awesome view of the open ocean. Because the hotel is surrounded by local settlements, expect people to walk pass on the beach in front of the pool. At noon till quite late in the evening you'll probably hear local children playing on the beach.
But overall the hotel's pretty calm and quiet with the just the sound of crashing waves, 'tokek' and other animals sounding in the not so distant places.
The beach is not ideal for swimming, because it's quite rocky. But if you walk a bit to the other side there's a fair strip of public space to get some sun and maybe check out the water. You can also trek down the beach to the Batu Bolong temple (about 1 km away) -- mind you it's not the most convenient of way to do it.
The Senggigi town/tourist/art market is about 5 min. away by motor vehicle.
To get to the airport from the hotel, just call Lombok Taxi (managed by Jakarta based Blue Bird Group). They're metered taxi, and very reliable. Cost is approx. Rp 150.000,- already w/ tip for driver.

We were staying at another hotel when my husband and I decided to check the place. All the 10 villas had the ocean view and the the hotel just opened in December so everthing looks new. So we decided to book 3 nights and this hotel did not disappoint at all. The staff are all nice and accommodating. Restaurant is kinda expensive but you can always get taxi or bemo just out side for 1500 rupiah to go to center of the town to get lunch or dinner. I would stay here again!

Room was spacious, outdoor shower/bathroom was wonderful and clean (no mosquito or frog problem), very comfortable accommodation.

Food was amazing, price is not cheap but the quality is comparable to NYC fine cruisine. We went back to the hotel for dinner everyday of our stay. My daughter loved their spagetti bolongnaise. Try their tiger prawn!

The team was great and very helpful. On the day of my husband's birthday, the hotel prepared a cake, complement from the hotel, and it was delicious.

Cons: hotel does not have a spa, beach is unswimmable and not very clean (but beautiful scenic view).

Overall, I would return again to chandi and I'd recommend anyone whose going to Senggigi to stay there.
