Sunset House Lombok

No idea what the previous review s about. I stayed they at the same time and had the exact opposite experience :
The staff reception to restaurant and ground staff - were so nice I extended my stay twice; the food was excellent, including a breakfast I went back to twice, in fact so good I only ate there for two days at one point ; and I recommended it to my trekking friends, who were on honeymoon, and they also loved it so much they are still there now, spending the rest of their holiday there.
Again, I have no idea why the previous reviewer wrote such hateful words, I recommend sunset house to one and all (and Indonesia is my 37th country!). Thanks for the great memories guys :-)

I have travelled the whole world, and this is the first time i've ever felt like writing a review, this place was so poorly run we had to leave ASAP.

The beach in front of the hotel is only nice thing about this place, and the pool is good too. The staff act as if you are inconveniencing them by even being near them, they are dumb, slow and arrogant. We live in bali so understand that there can be breakdowns of communication, but this was taken to another level.

The food is on a whole other level of disgusting. we ordered pizzas by the pool and they served us pizzas out of a box from the supermarket. and the wrong pizzas after waiting 40 minutes. and still forced us to pay for them. The breakfast is covered in flies, the boys that work in the bar are rude and have no idea on customer service or even how to welcome a guest. They cannot even smile. If they don't like westerners, don't work in hospitality.

Terrible Vibe and terrible service. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Stay up the road at Kila Beach resort, 1000 times better for not much more money per night.

Will never be returning to Lombok, and would never recommend Sunset House to anyone.

Room Tip: do not stay here

We stayed there for 4 days 3 nights & it took us 1 hour to reach the hotel from the airport via meter taxi, which cost us 200,000 Rupiah. When you get out from the airport, you'll be approached that offer you 100,000 Rupiah to Senggigi area but they'll drop you at the Senggigi central instead of the hotel. The hotel is about 15- 20 mins walk to the Senggigi central & a selection of restaurant in this area.

We stayed at Deluxe Sea View room which overlooking the pool & sea, very nice view indeed. Very friendly staff whom ready to assist you anytime. The room is spacious, comfortable bed but makes a lot of noise when we sit on it. The room & bathroom need bit of maintenance. Some tiles are missing, spider webs on the lights, hole on the rooftop. They offer a fairly simple breakfast: fruits, coffee, 4 main dishes, breads. You can request for omelets, scramble eggs or banana pancakes. For the last 2 nights, we bought some drumstick from the groceries & requested the kitchen to cook for us. They charged us the "cooking fees" but with reasonable price.. Very nice cooking from the chef! Overall, worth for a stay with the price that we paid, couldn't ask for more!

Room Tip: Get a sea & pool view room on the upstairs for a better view

Actually i want to stay at their sea-view room, but unfortunately the room at the beach side already fully booked. So, I stay at the standard room which located across the road and have no view.

What i love :
- The room is very spacious, clean, and has a private balcony
- The ambiance of the hotel is awesome and very beautiful. A lovely garden, a seaside swimming pool, a beach front restaurant, and a gazebo. Everything is perfect.
- The hotel location, you can walk along the beach side around 10 minutes to reach Batu Bolong Temple and Senggigi Town Center.
- The room rate ( I got a spacious standard room only for $45/night)
- The food at the bar is yummy.

What i dislike :
- On the night when i stayed, there was a electricity broke out at Senggigi Area and unfortunately their genset was also broken. So we spent around 4 hours in the darkness. I hope they can do a better maintenance.

Room Tip: - Choose room at the beach side to get a more beautiful view and more private ambience - Choose hig...

A lovely property of about 30 or so rooms. We stayed for 5 nights in a Super Deluxe Seaview on the first floor overlooking the main pool. Views to Bali's Mt Agung across the Lombok Straits were fabulous especially at sunset and most evenings we and other guests would congregate beachside for the sunset ritual.
The lush tropical grounds were nice and well cared for. Small grass bales/huts were dotted around for massages and lounging.

Breakfasts in their beachfront restaurant were adequate (coffee, juice, pancakes, eggs any which way and toast). It was nice to try the selection of Indo specialties which changed daily. Lunches were always delicious and we particularly enjoyed their burgers and mie/nasi gorengs.
Staff were always pleasant and chatty, especially Anna. Beach sellers would always make themselves known around the front of the restaurant at mealtimes and it was fun to barter with them but a couple of polite refusals was usually enough to keep them at bay if you weren't interested.

The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated but lacked a few things like a mirror in the main room, a decent amount of cupboards for clothes and perhaps coffee/tea making facilities.
Bathrooms were fine but water pressure in the shower wasn't great. Air-con worked great and was quiet.
Sleep quality was good and it was nice to faintly hear the waves crashing in throughout the day and night. Street noise was distant and not obtrusive.

The lovely restaurants of Central Senggigi were only about 1km away and we walked it a couple of times but taxis were always easy to spot out front and a metered trip would always cost less than Rp10,000 (AUD1).

As is often the case with emerging tourist destinations sometimes hotels and restaurants don't get it quite right all the time, but they always try hard and always with a smile. Once we adjusted to some of the things that were slightly lacking we settled into a lovely few days here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sunset House and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money and upgrade to the Deluxe Seaview rooms.

I mentionned in another review my disappointment while experiencing a luxury boutique hotel (expensive) delivering very poor service and "not so special" rooms.
Well Sunset Houset is the opposite: not a luxury hotel but full of good surprises!

Well located in Sengigi (central) and on the beach! Hence, the rooms with seaview have a stunning panorama!

We took a "Deluxe seaview", on the 1st floor overloking the sea and the swimming pool.
The room was very large, very bright and with a balcony.

The garden / park of the hotel is very well done, with sun baths, patios and shadow.

In the morning you can have your breakfast (okay food) in their restaurant which is facing the ocean...

Room Tip: 1 st floor with seaview: great privacy and panorama!
