Best Western Danbury/Bethel
Ranked #2 of 4 Hotels in Bethel
Reviewed June 9, 2013

This hotel is located next to Target on Stony Hill Road. The outside looks a little dated but the inside is much nicer. The deluxe room had two queen beds, microwave, mini fridge, free wifi, flat-screen tv with HBO. The bed was very comfortable. The room and bathroom were very nice and recently updated. There is a complimentary gym available as well as a free continental breakfast. This well-appointed hotel was less than other hotels not as nice in Danbury.

Room Tip: The deluxe room was $10 more and came with a microwave, extra sink and fridge.

This review is long overdue. In March, my husband and I stayed at the Best Western for 12 days for family emergency. It was too long and we will never stay there again. We arrived in the evening and checked into a king handicap room. (not needed) The room appeared to be very nice with a large bathroom. There was a problem with the toilet, which my husband was able to fix and we could not adjust the shower. The sink counter was very tiny and one side was taken up by the coffee maker. (in the bathroom?) The next morning, we were moved across the hall to Room #2, a room with 2 queen beds and a wet bar with microwave and refrigerator. An upgrade which the mamager did not charge us for. Room #2, the heat could not be adjusted (even when off, it was on) The maintenance man tried for an hour and a half and could not repair it. We were moved to room #3. Appeared to be OK. Everything worked. Every evening, we put the Do not disturb sign out and in the morning when we left for the day, we put out the Please make up the room sign. One day we came back to the room and the sign was still on the door. (not a good sign) We entered to an untouched room. The bed was unmade and the wet towels were still on the bathroom floor. The evening desk clerk said that we must have put the wrong sign out and he could not leave the desk to get us fresh towels. My husband asked to speak to the hotel manager. After some discussion, the clerk found us fresh towels (afer checking the sign on the door) The manager called and initially told my husband that the housekeeping staff did not speak English. First, it is her responsibility to make sure that the staff understand their job and secondly, the Do not disturb sign is blue and the Please make up room sign is white. No need to speak English. The next day, the housekeeper stated that we had asked that the room not be made up. (not true) At this point, if our circumstances for being in CT would have permitted the time, we would have moved to a different hotel. One morning, we went to take a shower and there was no hot water. We were told that the hotel was full and the demand for hot water was high. Again, not a true statement. It was the water heater.( a hotel should have the capicity to provide hot water even when at full capacity) I can't say for sure, but it did not appear to be full. Lastly, on the last morning, I bent down to pick up something in the bathroom and noticed that the underside of the shelf in the shower/tub area was moldy. Upon checkout, we were given a $20.00 discount. On the positive side, the location is good and the continental breakfast was very good.

Room Tip: second floor rooms can access the back parking lot with out having to use the elevator.

This hotel has become a regular 1st night stop on our way to Florida from Nova Scotia. We find it convenient, reasonably priced and a good location. We find the rooms, while a little dated to be adequate for our purposes.

Had been to this hotel for 2 nights. Rooms are really big with king size bed. Even bathroom is also quite big. Since the property is very old the airconditioner makes quite a loud noise. Thry really need some sort of refurbishment. Even doing temperature setting also is quite a big job as you really need to do some research to find out the setting knob. Atleast I need to call the receptionist to do this job. Complimentary breakfast is really awful. Probably the only thing you can eat is cornflakes & milk as the bread they serve is not at all fresh. The location is quite decent enough as they have Target Hyper right next door & also couple of restaurants in walking distance. For couple of nights is a manageable option as a business traveller but with family you can give a pass.

The room was extremely hot and the temp was near impossible to control. The shower had no mix valve also making it impossible to adequately adjust. Other wise the room was clean and the breakfast was very good and the location is ideal for travelers to NYC.

Room Tip: Rooms on the backside are quieter
