Berlin is a funny town. It has a pathetic looking downtown, and is usually considered as a bedroom community for people who have moved out of New Britain or Meriden. Drive around town on a weekend during the dinner hour and you'll find a dozen pizzeria's, all of which are full of suburbanites munching away on mediocre generic pizza that could have come out of a supermarket. Wander into the Stop & Shop Plaza and you'll stumble across a tiny Japanese restaurant that has some of the finest exotic looking sushi that you will ever taste. When the pizzeria's are packed, you'll be lucky to see more than three tables occupied in this wonderful little restaurant. Is this Berlin's best kept secret?
I have eaten here many times over the past six months and have savored every meal. The service is fast, and the dishes are prepared in the most exotic way that is beautiful as well as tasteful. They offer many different varieties of sushi. My recommendation for novices is to get the sampler. The specials menu has offerings that need to be seen to be believed.
There is also a menu of cooked meats and seafood prepared in a more chinese fashion that japanese. I need to mention that I am not connoisseur of japanese food but I thoroughly enjoy the sushi at this restaurant and between my wife and I, we have tried just about everything on their specials menu plus much of the raw and cooked items on the regular menu.
Dinner for two runs about $35, but you can easily have a great meal here for about $25. Don't expect to leave here stuffed. The portions are correct, not oversized. They also have a busy take-out service for those on the go.
