“Never judge a book by it's cover!!!!”

One of the most beautiful Denny's you would probably see in a life time just opened up here in Woodland Park, CO... Full bar and a beautiful fireplace, not to mention the venue! We took our family there for dinner. We were not impressed with the menu, but decided to stay and give the place a try. My Husband ordered the nachos and it looked like a greasy ground beef mound on top of a bed of lettuce. No cheese or sour cream. I ordered a chicken cordon blue sandwich and it tasted like a rock of salt. I sent it back and they brought me a philly steak sandwich....again, nothing but a salt bomb. Our kids ordered the Brownie Ala Modes for dessert and it was just thrown on a plate....Nothing presentable about the food served on the plates. Service was VERY slow for a not so busy night and very over priced for what you get.. $50.00 lesson learned....Management was not very accommodating for our concerns. Never judge a book by it's cover!!!!

“Friendly good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2011

Denny's in Woodland Park has just recently opened and we visited it with a bit of hesitation but were very pleasantly suprised at both the quality of the food and the attention and professionalism of the staff. So far we've only had breakfast, but the food was very good and the attention from the staff was genuine but not overly disruptive. I can recommend the Bananas Foster French Toast as a delightful change to typical breakfast fare and the skillet dishes were also very good and well presented. I know they only opened so some of the enthusiam of the staff may mellow with time, but everyone seemed genuinely concerned that everything about our meal was satisfactory.
Woodland Park can use a reasonably priced, sit down restaurant with a well varied menu and I hope both the locals and the folks traveling up or down highway 24 will support and enjoy our new Denny's.

“Best Restaurant in Town--FINALLY!!!!!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2011

We've been waiting a couple of years for someone to come in and take over the former Zak's restaurant. (Across from the new Walmart). Now we've been rewarded with a great new Denny's restaurant, and no, I'm not being sarcastic.
We have VERY limited dining choices up here in the mountains, and now we have a great place to come for hopefully reliable good grub in a semi-corporate, mountain atmosphere.
Pros: Attentive, clean, well-groomed and polite waitstaff, if a little inexperienced. Plenty of them too. Numerous hostesses on a Sunday morning. Quick food from the kitchen even though we were told it would be 15 to 20 minutes. Very clean surroundings, lit faux river rock fireplace, Tasty breakfast food, substantial menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Cons: need sign on old front door to direct us around to new front door, which is where the back door used to be. Need a little more Lodge-inspired decoration up on the walls, It feels a little sparse. One last con, my rye toast was burnt.
Now to the the bar. Denny's with a bar? Yes. We have a lot of good dive bars up here and it appears the local (Colorado Springs) owners are hoping to NOT add to that list. It is a cozy, well laid out, atmospheric bar with fireplace, high ceilings, at least two flat screen TV's and a well-groomed, polite bartender. When we inquired if they would be offering happy hour or what events they might have planned she answered that the owners are hoping to keep the bar portion of the business more low key. In other words those of us who have long sought to have a more upscale type bar to go have a drink in, now have a place to go. Dive bars have their place, but we like options.

Each of the workers we encountered there said they wanted us to feel that we were at home. They clearly have been well trained, and as a group represent this restaurant very well. The cohesive of their appearance was not wasted on us, nor was the warm welcome we received. Right back at you, Denny's!!! Welcome to OUR home!!!
