“Run down hotel at great location”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

We have been coming to the vintage hotel for the last 13 years because the location. Little has been done to this hotel other than a nice new beds and very nice white linen. The rest of the hotel is pretty run down. If you like dogs this is the place to be. Dogs all over the place. we were supposed to be on a non dog floor, but there were dogs on this floor.Although the bathrooms are clean they are pretty nicked up. The carpeting in hotel needs replacement. Went to use the hot tub and sauna. The sauna was closed off with a big sign saying closed due to vandalism. Like it is my fault? Will they ever open it again or are we being punished those of us that had nothing to do with the sauna being vandalized? They have gotten rid of all of the chairs in the pool area. So there is no place to sit outside on a beautiful sunny day. Pool is pretty worn. not an inviting area. Left hotel at 9:30 with sign on door for room to be made up. Came back at 1:30. Room was still not made up. Maids were in the hallway. Neither of the maids had my room on their list be cleaned. I contacted the front desk. Instead of saying I'm sorry we'll see what we could do, I was told that the maids have till 4 PM to clean the room. And the issue of no one being assigned my room was not addressed. Not great customer service. You cannot beat the location. I know this is not a 5 star property, but they certainly could put some money into this property. It is old and tired. But they have a captive audience. So here we stay.

Location is perfect, a gondola takes you from hotel to base, where everything is located. Very convenient, with very courteous staff. The hotel is dated, but the location makes up for it. This is a family friendly hotel with a tubing slide next to hotel really cool, for kids. The base at winter park has ,any places to eat, ski rentals, and lift tickets all in one. There is a restaurant in hotel, with fair food, but would eat at base. The gondola is open until 1030 pm

My wife and I Stayed at the Vintage Hotel during our ski vacation to Winter Park. The hotel was a 2 minute lift ride to the village. They also built a new snow tubing hill right above the hotel, which made for a fun activity after skiing. We chose to upgrade to a deluxe studio room. I would highly recommend upgrading if you are here for more than a day or two. The room had a fully stocked kitchen, small round table that seats four comfortably, and a living room area with couch, chair and fireplace. The room had a nice new king sized bed, as well as new carpeting throughout the room. All of this made our stay feel more like a home than a hotel room. Housekeeping did a great job every day, they will put all of you dirty dishes in the dishwasher and run it for you, which is a nice amenity we don't have at home!
I do have to mention that you should not come here expecting the Ritz Carlton. The hotel is in need of some upgrading. The wallpaper in the room was pretty old and peeling off of the walls, internet seemed to go down often (although it was free, and free internet seems to be harder to come by these days!). The one big downside was that the hot tub was down all week. They made everyone aware that a part was ordered and they were doing their best to get it up and running. We were offered a small food voucher for the inconvenience which was a kind gesture. There is a pool and sauna there, which we were able to take advantage of several days.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Vintage and would consider staying here again if we take another trip to Winter Park.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a deluxe studio!

The service was excellents. No complaints there. And obviously very convenient since the cabriolet means there's no need to drive to the resort. Also, if you're renting equipment from the resort, you can do that the night before you ski (when lines are non-existent), leave it at the resort overnight, and save lots of time the next morning.

The rooms were spacious and fairly nice. I enjoyed finding the hidden library with board games, books, a fireplace, and a pool table. (The pool table costs about a $1.25/game though). There was even some complimentary apple cidar sitting out! The hotel's restaurant has a limited menu but everything on it is great . . . if somewhat pricy. The outdoor hottub was the perfect end to a day of skiing.

A free breakfast would have been convenient (there's not one here). And I was a little disappointed that the fireplace in our room didn't work. The overall quality of the hotel itself is a little worn-out looking. It could use new carpet and a few more updates. But it wasn't bad enough to ruin the hotel for me.

Beds were great with good quality bedding. Would have preferred a second comfortable chair in the room for the non-skiing times. Internet was okay at times but great trouble getting on when everyone was in their rooms. We did like the convenience of the Cabriolet lift or "beer can tram". Back in the beginning, the restaurant was a very nice place but now it is rather drab with very limited menu. Front desk staff was very helpful.

I stayed at the Vintage Hotel for a 4 night ski vacation. It is a great location, right at the entrance of the resort and a gondola ride to the hills and shops. The hotel could certainly use some updates but for the price and location to the mountains and town of Winter Park it's great. The beds were extra comfy and although dated, very clean. Customer service was great as well as the restaurant located in the hotel. Ask for rooms with a fire place and facing the mountains, beautiful view.

When we stayed at the vintage on our skiing trip in Jan/Feb we weren't expecting much as it was such a great deal so we were pleasantly surprised. It was very warm and comfy in our studio room. All the staff were friendly and the maid was great at her job which made our room feel extra comfy and warm after a hard days skiing. Great pool area with large hot tube. Nice large pizzas served int hotel bar. Great free bus service in to town for evenings out. The cabriolet lift take you from the Hotel to the ski village which makes this a great hotel. I would stay in this hotel again.
