My family just returned home from the best ski vacation we have ever had. We love staying at the Woodspur and can't wait to go back. The second you walk in the door, your entire family is welcomed. My kids (9, 7, 2) jumped right in and played with the other kids. They had the best time running around and they are treated so well by Jimmy, Jeannine and their entire crew. I can tell you after a long day of skiing with the kids, to have a little break is heaven. The food is so great and it is so easy with kids. If you stay at a condo, you are cooking & cleaning the entire time and no homemade cookies waiting for you! If you are planning a family ski trip to Winter Park, don't even think about going anywhere else!

Woodspur Lodge is like a second home to me. My family has been coming to Winter Park for our Christmas vacation every year since the 70s, and ever since the Woodspur Lodge tradition started, we haven't stayed anywhere else...and wouldn't want to.

The staff is so friendly and really laid back. They cook breakfast and dinner each day, which is included with your stay, and it's ALWAYS amazing and one of my favorite parts of staying at Woodspur. The staff rings a dinner bell right on the dot every night, and it's like a big family gathers in the dining room together to eat. If it's not dinner or breakfast time, you can always wander into the room stocked with hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and fresh baked cookies.

Woodspur also has two hot tubs that are located at the ends of the lodge, which are great after a long day on the slopes. And the rooms are so cozy, each one designed as if you're in your own little cabin.

Woodspur also has one of the best views in the valley. If you step out onto the top deck, you can see for miles, scenes of the snow covered trees and mountains.

In addition, downstairs there is a small bar, another fireplace (there's also one upstairs), and a game room with a pool table and darts, friendly for all ages. That room is actually where I first learned to play pool.

When you're ready to leave the lodge and hit the slopes, Woodspur has its own personal shuttle services which drop you off and pick you up each day.

I can't imagine ever staying anywhere else with my family in Winter Park. Woodspur has got it all. I really feel like family there.

We held a family reunion July 2010 for 80 people at this lodge. It was an almost perfect venue for our event. We had it to ourselves. They served us wonderful meals on time and the accomodations were just right for our group. They were helpful in advising us of what activities were available in the area. It has a large gathering room as well as a craft/game room. We held a talent show in the bar area with the piano. There were horshoes available. There was a pool room however, the equipment was in very bad shape. The hot tubs were available to us and were clean. I must say, it was a near perfect stay until we got home and found out they had used our damage deposit in an unbusiness like manner. They had an upcoming wedding and decided to have the carpets cleaned and used our damage deposit as a cleaning deposit and did not even notify us. Needless to say we were disappointed after having such a wonderful time while there.

Room Tip: There are old rooms and newer updated rooms so you would have to pick and choose

We have been staying at the Woodspur Lodge for several years and have always enjoyed the experience, that's why we return each year. We arrive by Amtrak. They pick us up at the station and deliver us back when we leave. The meals are exceptional - great quality and quantity. In addition, there are always "sweet treats" and a warm drink waiting for us when we return from the slopes. The lodge is very comfortable and has a great welcoming personality. The staff is friendly and accommodating always willing to make an extra effort to help you enjoy your time in the mountains. It's the only lodge at Winter Park where my wife wants to stay.

It just doesn't get any better than this. Wonderful setting, great views, excellent and helpful staff, good food, reasonable price. If you come to Winterpark to Ski, this is the place to stay. They provide a ride to and from the ski area, handle your skis for you but most importantly have a great snack to feed you when you get back to the lodge after an exhausting day of skiing. The rooms aren't much but they are adequate and reasonably roomy, no phones, no television and that's on purpose.

One of the biggest attractions of Woodspur is the magnificent central common area. Its a huge floor to ceiling windowed A-Frame with a view of the mountains that can't be beat. The common area is equipped with games, books and puzzles, lots of couches to sit and rest ofter that day of skiing and while you are waiting for one of the great meals you will get there. Ok, it does have Wi-Fi if you just MUST attend to that email.

Its an unbeatable place to visit winter or summer. See you there!

Love the fact that there are no TVs in the rooms. Great space for kids and adults to hang out (kids room with Ping Pong, Bumper Pool, movie screen; adult spaces include a living room setting with fantastic views of the divide; lower level has a large bar area with an adjacent pool room). Safe, just the right size (not too big; not too small). Great service and very accomodating staff.

My sons and I just completed our 14th Christmas to New Year's ski trip to Woodspur Lodge. You might assume from that fact that we like staying there, as do a lot of other people who make Woodspur an annual event. Woodspur is the ideal mountain lodge for families looking for a low key ski venue. Guests eat breakfast and dinner together, and relax together in the lodge's living room and bar. Most of the guest rooms are very simple, but you spend very little time in your room at Woodspur. There is WiFi in the lodge, but don't expect a TV or phone in your room. If you want to catch a game, etc. there is a TV in the bar. If you have small kids, who want to catch some TV, there is one in the game room. The lodge runs shuttle vans to the ski area base in the mornings and afternoon. If you have a significant other, who doesn't enjoy skiing, they have the large, well lit living room for reading while you are skiing. There are always several people around the lodge, who are either taking a day off, or just don't ski. Town is a brisk walk from the lodge, even more brisk on the return leg, as the elevation is 9,000 feet and it's uphill. My youngest son was 2.5 years old on our first trip. This is a great place to stay with children because they have the run of the lodge. The owners and managers are very accommodating, as are the kids who work there. Snowmobiling to the Continental Divide and snowshoeing are also available.
