Our family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids 16 & 10) stayed here 2 years ago, and it was fine then, although understandably pricey given the ski-in convenience. We were happy to pay up again for our 5 day stay.

Except this time, the 2nd-floor "Slopeside" suite's view was of a construction site and no warning that construction would start at 7:30am. When we complained on our first morning there was no suite available away from the site and they told us flat-out that upgrading to a 2-bedroom suite was not an option unless we paid.

The suite was clean and comfortable with all expected amenities, but the one "tidy" service did not materialize until 5p.m. on the promised day, when we were already off the slopes and in no mood to have someone vacuuming while we were bathing and changing etc.

Our room was booked as a package with lift-tickets but we had to shlep to the mountain's guest services office on our first morning where we stood in a long, slow line only to find that they had no record of our package. After an hour of back and forth with the hotel, getting overheated in our ski clothes, they eventually found them under a completely mispelled name. No apology.

Throughout our stay, full garbage bags kept accumulating in the main passage, put there by people too lazy to haul themselves, but neither did the staff think it their job to haul away either.

Both the sofa bed and rollaway bed we had for the kids were extremely uncomfortable. They ended up sleeping on the sofa cushions.

We asked for a late 3p.m. check out on our last day because we want to clean up after a morning skiing and before our late flight. The front desk were only prepared to give us a 1 hour extension for 11am, even though they freely admitted the room was not booked for the next day. They said we could pay for an extra night if we wanted to. Thanks.

Although nothing beats the convenience of staying on the mountain, it is clear that the Zephyr believes that this convenience entitles them to provide sub-par service at an inflated price.

We got a deal at the Zephyr by booking in October 2007. 8 nights for a 1 bed condo plus lift passes for around $2100. For UK half term and President's weekend this was too good to pass up.
We have been to Winter park before so knew where this property was located. We had never been it though.

As with most things in the US, ( in my experience at least) check in was smooth and helpful and everything appeared efficient. Our room was a 1 bed condo, not huge but perfectly adequate for 2 adults and 2 small kids. After the first night the cracks started to appear. The room was in terminal decline with broken windows that would not close ( fixed immediately but permanently closed from then on.) Cleaning had been negligble prior to our arrival and was not done in the week we were there despite being told it would be. We left a message in the dust when we left.
Lack of cleaning was put down to care for the environment as only Hotels can these days.
There was a balcony but it had never been cleared of snow and so was dangerous to use.
The small kitchen had a the usual vast US fridge, a diswasher, microwave, fabulous waste disposal ( every home should have one) and an electric cooker that should have been condemned. The rings were not secured and cooking on it was a nightmare. Shocking...if you will pardon the pun.
2 TVs which had clearly been around in Logie Baird's time. What is it about the USA and technology...they don't have any. Aside from the fact that the cable output was utter rubbish, there was no DVD player, just a derilect video hich may even have been Betamax!!!

A million radio stations but you could not hear any of them.

Thankfully they had free broadband ( a unique service in my expeirance for a hotel and well done to the Zephyr for this alone!!) in the room and so we listened to UK radio stations via the web.

The hot tubs were great and always hot and working.
The ski storage areas were a real boon and very welcome. The location was perfect being just 50 yards downhill skiing to the major ski lift. Skiing in, while possible, required quite a bit of walking but we did it several times.
The underground car park ( one space per condo.........right) This was great outwith the weekend. When that came, it was clear that there were more cars than spaces. If the space was numbered to match the room it would have helped greatly.
We never met any staff (other than at checkin and out) but those we met did seem perfectly amiable.
The sting came when we got back and found a further $182 charged to our credit card. It was a mistake which they have assurred me will be rectified but they also said it was charged to everyone and I wonder how many people don't challenge it.
All in all it was fine for the money we paid, but next time we would take our own duster.

We spent 4 nights at the lodge for a family ski trip. We had a great time. Our room was a slopeside, 1bed & 1 bath unit, with a view of the ski slopes. We were late getting in due to an avalanche on Berthoud Pass and we ended up having to drive though Silverthorne, Kremmling, and Granby to get there. The Desk staff was friendly. Room was great, clean and just what we expected. Even though the Zephyr Lift is right outside the hotel, don't expect you won't have to walk, but it is a shorter walk than those staying elsewhere that have to wait for a shuttle bus. We would definitely stay here again.

Just come back from a 7 night stay in room 2100. 2bed/2 bed condo in the Riverside section on the ground floor.

There were 5 of us so we made use of the sofa-bed in the living area.

The condo was spacious and clean.

I was worried prior to arriving having read some reviews but we had no complaints. It IS a walk to and from the slopes but everyone - even the children - carried their own gear. We skied all day - what's a bit of walking?

The hotel shuttle was excellent - used it to get to Safeway in Fraser and a couple of times to eat in Winter Park Town. Would rather do that than stay in WP Town and shuttle to the slopes in the morning.

Hot cider and teas in the lobby all day/night!

Ate at Doc's in the Zephyr - great service.
The New Hong Kong in WPT - great service and food.
The Green Olive in WPT - great service....food not so great but filled the gap!

One thing we noticed.......we were constantly topped up with iced water at the restaurants......just like it used to be in Orlando!

My husband and I recently went on our honeymoon, and decided to stay at the lodge. The first room we were put in, the fireplace did not work. We were told we could stay in another room; and while we were packing to move rooms, my husband bumped his head on a ceiling light. (There was no dining room table under the ceiling light, and my husband is only 5ft 11in.) The light shattered on my husbands head. Fortunately he was not hurt, and initially we were told we would not have to pay for the damages.

However, when we went to check out, the lodge wanted to charge us. We disputed the charge and were told again that we would not have to pay. When we arrived at the airport the lodge called us and stated they were charging us anyway. We stated we were going to dispute the charge with our credit card company (especially because they had given us a receipt stating we were payed in full, and because we should not have to pay for a safety hazard).

Long story short, the lodge had us playing phone tag with individuals for a week trying to resolve the situation. In the end, we were basically called liers...that we most likely broke the light with a snowboard...and that the room was in a new building that had past a multiple point checklist. I was (and still am) LIVID!

My husband is currently active duty military and I am a veteran. We live our lives with honesty and integrity. I find it very disturbing that an establishment feels it is ok to charge people for something such as this...and I find it absolutely APPALLING that an establishment would imply such things about individuals such as my husband and myself.

For all those who are thinking about staying at this establishment BEWARE...because if something goes wrong YOU will be blamed, and YOU will be charged...even if it is not your fault.
