“Absolutely lovely!”
Reviewed August 9, 2011

I booked a stay at this B&B because of all the great reviews and they are well deserved! My boyfriend and I travelled from NYC to attend a wedding in the neighboring town of Fraser.

The owners Laura and Greg were very hospitable, letting us check in early in order to get ready for the wedding later that afternoon. Upon arriving, they gave a tour of the chateau which was spacious and homey. Laura offered to take our photo while dressed in a wedding attire and Greg suggested a lovely restaurant to dine in the next day.

We stayed in the Durango room which had a large flatscreen with Direct TV, a comfortable queen sized bed and small bathroom, a great perk to this room is the balcony which leads to a drive up private entrance (this worked out well when we came back later in the night and didn't disturb any guests).

The breakfast delicious and different on each of the days we stayed, serving egg soufles and french toast, fresh fruit, sausage, fresh baked english muffins.. all SO YUMMY! We also loved the hot tub sitting on the front patio on the 2nd floor, the view looks directly at the mountains, and the Inn provides plush robes and slippers for those cooler (cold) nights. They also serve light appetizers and wine on the patio in the afternoon.

All in all, we LOVED this B&B, our hosts were so gracious, the food was fantastic, and the amenities are luxury at the very least. If we are ever in the Winter Park area again, this will be the place we stay!

We had a wonderful 4-night stay in the Aspen Room. I didn't see the other rooms, but ours was quiet, spacious, with a very comfortable bed and lovely decor. As Laura suggested, we called when we left the Denver airport and were greeted by Carol with ice water and munchies when we arrived. Later she brought a tray to our room with wine, cheese, crackers, and fruit, a nice little extra offered every afternoon.

Laura's gourmet breakfasts were just delicious and beautifully presented, always with an assortment of fresh fruits included. We were so full we wanted only a light lunch or none at all. She accommodated my early rising time and coffee addiction by having it automatically brew at 6 a.m., something I really appreciated.

She and Greg were so gracious and helpful and just delightful to talk to. We were given excellent dining recommendations and discount coupons as well. They told us about the Thursday evening concert in the park, which we really enjoyed. They were there if we needed them but not intrusive and very respectful of our privacy. Laura printed our boarding passes for us the morning we checked out.

I chose this B&B based on other reviews and because it seemed to offer the little extras expected with upscale lodging. We weren't disappointed. We wanted to stay somewhere within easy driving distance to Grand Lake and the Rocky Mountain National Park and also quaint towns such as Georgetown, and this fit the bill perfectly. I also chose Winter Park Chateau because the room had a TV (large, flat-screen) and wireless internet, a must for my husband when we travel. An unexpected thrill was sitting on the second floor balcony watching different species of hummingbirds swarm the feeders, something we enjoy at home in Tennessee but with only the ruby-throated hummer.

We loved Winter Park Chateau and will definitely go back if we have the opportunity. I have no reservations at all in recommending it.

The room was quite small, and the railroad (which ran by a LOT) was about 50 yards behind the B&B--noisy and disruptive to sleep. Breakfast was plentiful but not so creative as mosts B&B establishments. Since we "do" a B&B about six or more times a year, we feel we are pretty well versed in our expectations. This one was average, and housekeeping was minimal. We would rank this one as only "OK" overall.

We stayed at this B@B for one night on our 2 month road tour of western USA and Canada. We really enjoyed being able to relax in the outdoor hot tub soaking up the beautiful mountain view-I know there is a carpark below but who looks at that when the spectacular mountains are in view.It was nice to be served wine, cheese and crackers and we actually had the deck to ourselves. Our room was beautifully furnished, had plenty of space and a gorgeous bathroom with fluffy robes. The only negative was the rail line as I am a light sleeper but the bed was very comfy so I managed to sleep. The front rooms may be quieter but I still very much enjoyed the friendly attention, lovely house and great breakfast....much nicer than staying in big hotels or the crowded breakfast rooms of motels

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at Winter Park Chateau and it was just as pleasant as the first. Laura and Greg are great hosts who look out for every discerning area to make your stay as wonderful as possible. This is a B&B where you can truly feel at home!

Our recent visit to the Winter Park Chateau was such a wonderful experience! Laura and Greg were very gracious hosts. They made us feel welcome in their home and our room was beautifully decorated and well maintained. This clean, comfortable room was the perfect setting for a great night's sleep! They also gave us many great "insider" tips about the area, that made our time in Winter Park even more enjoyable. Laura was very attentive to our needs, but also very respectful of our privacy. Breakfast was delicious, and beautifully presented in a bright, sunny setting. The afternoon wine and appetizer plate was served on the deck with the humming birds--such a nice surprise after a full day of exploring the area. We definitely plan to visit again!

Room Tip: The website room photos are very good and show you exactly what you'll see when you arrive.

Our one night at Winter Park Chateau - comfortable, clean, great service (thanks, Laura!). The bed was comfortable. Convenient location to walk to several restaurants. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, consisting of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and ham, croissants, potatoes, jiuce and coffee. However, Winter Park has a mainline railroad running through town (a few blocks west of US 40), and since the B&B is about a block west of the highway, you get highway noise on one side and train noise (every hour or so, all night) from the other. This might not be as much an issue in ski season, but in summer (with the window open, no A/C) it's noisy. Be prepared to carry your bags up stairs, too. Only one room on the first floor, and no elevator.

We'd go back, especially if the weather was a bit cooler.

Room Tip: Only the Aspen room is first floor.
