Very clean and updated rooms.
Extremely friendly staff.
Very home-like/comfortable feel.

I rarely write reviews but this place exceeded my expectation in every way. Realistically, for the convenience, price and experience, I cannot see myself staying anywhere else in Vail.

Overall I would give this property a higher rating if it weren't for the one or two negatives that I will mention a bit later. The hotel lobby is sumptuously appointed. You only need to walk about 200 feet to get to the new Gondola #1. The ski concierge brings your ski equipment out every morning and looks after locking it up at the end of the day. Your boots spend the night on a warm air boot dryer. The hotel building itself is solidly built and the rooms are quiet with not a peep to be heard through the walls. A couple of things that we think are worth mentioning. First, the beds (two queens) in our room were a bit on the spongy side. If they were my mattresses, they'd be at the curb-side. The ambient temperature in the corridors is kept at about 80, and the AC has to be on in the rooms although its below freezing outside unfortunately our AC was clearly tuckered out. Although the breakfast buffet is well worth the price for either the continental or the full hot breakfast, we noticed that there is no cooking exhaust hood over the omelette cooking station and that because of this, cooking odours are noticeable throughout the building in the mornings.

We stayed there in March 2013 and found the place to be gorgeous with its abundance of wood details in the architecture and finishes. The service was top notch and friendly. Valet service is available for $25 a day wich is a steal in Vail. The rooms were clean and well appointed with a fridge (not minibar) and microwave allowing one to heat up simple meals. The complimentary toiletries are from L'Occitane. The southern facing hot tubs were God sent after a hard day's skiing. A full breakfast looked luscious (I did not partake) and at $13 is also a great deal. The helpful ski valet stored our skis overnight for free. The icing on the cake? Free blazing fast WiFi throughout the property. The one negative was the male bartender whose attitude and pours left much to be desired.
Stay there if you want a high quality experience without the spa, the shopping arcade, the festooned doorman, or the 3 am room service.

Room Tip: Pick the non slope facing side to avoid the night time droning of the snowcats.

This was my second time staying here. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, very friendly staff,
ski valet service. Almost feel like you are in your own home. Bob, the owner likes to greet
you and make sure you are enjoying your visit. Great breakfast choices, including homemade
items. A very short walk to everything in the village.

This lodge is the most spectacular lodge in Vail (in my opinion). The hospitality is superb and rooms luxurious. Views from slope-side rooms are "Kodak moments" especially when the sun going down and the gas fireplace is room is on. The vibe in the lobby and bar areas is one of camaraderie and bonding with family and friends (and in our case, our Bernese Mountain Dog, Rigley). Walk to the lifts...all close and walk to the Village for some of the best food and restaurants in the world.

My wife and I have stayed here on five ski trips. The lodge is beautiful, the service is great (including the ski valet which stores and heats your boots for you overnight), and the location is perfect, in the village and just a 3 minute walk from either the gondola, or the Golden Peaks lift. We plan on staying here again next year.

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Vail. One of the reason's we had such a good time was the hotel's extraordinary hospitality. The staff was very helpful, caring and accommodating. In terms of the hotel's pros, I loved the bath tab in the room as well as the hot tab. The hotel's located centrally, 2 min walk to town and to the lifts. In terms of con's, the hotel is very pricey and the gym is outdated.
