I reserved a one bedroom condo for 3 nights the last week of June. My reservation was made over 2 months in advance. Our travels went so smoothly that we arrived in Vail one night early. I called the resort to see if we could add on another night to our stay and they said yes. We checked into the resort rather late with 3 sleeping young children in tow. The check in process was smooth, until we arrived in our unit. To say that it was outdated is an understatement, and the unit as a whole was run down with large tears in the furniture, large chips out of the kitchen countertop, very old appliances, and filthy grout and wallpaper in the bath. The decor on the wall was also rather tasteless with one print reading "how can I be so thirsty today when I drank so much last night".
I called the front desk and the person on duty acknowledged that this was one of their older units and that the owners have choice in the decor and updating so they had no control over that. He asked if we could accept that unit overnight and he would ask the manager about moving to another the next morning. Being so late with tired children, I agreed. The following morning, Theresa from the management staff went far beyond my expectations and showed me several units, both one and two bedroom, to try to find one that met our expectations (which were in line with the photos and description I had seen online at their website and in line with the photos of one bedroom units I had seen on Tripdadvisor.com). We saw 3 two bedroom units and all of these were more updated and had nicer large televisions, etc. We preferred the price and smaller layout of the one bedroom units (given that we have young children), and saw 4 of these units in all, including the first unit we stayed in. Two of the four were rather outdated, and the other two were exceptionally nice and upscale.
I am seated in our unit now and can say that we love this particular condo with granite counters, full updated kitchen with bar and stainless appliances, tiled walk in shower with glass doors, and two 50 inch flat screen TV's with a surround sound system. We also have a gas grill on a large balcony overlooking Gore Creek. The pools and hot tubs are fabulous, and the location of the resort is ideal for families in the summer with Ford Park in the backyard and just a 5 minute walk to the east side of the village or you can catch the bus just across the street and go through the entire town.
Overall, we would recommend this property, and commend the staff for their exceptional efforts to make us feel comfortable. However, we were fortunate that this was not a busy season so that we could have more choice in our unit, as clearly not all are as upscale as we expected. In winter you may be gambling a bit due to the level of variability amongst the condos.
