“Great Service in a Great Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2013

Have stayed at Vail 21 for the last 12 years. Location is great, Condos have everything you need, Price is the best in Vail. Staff at the Landmark are the best in the business! Close to nice shopping, restaurants and bus lines.

We purchased a Living Social deal for the Landmark (Destination Resorts property) and was pleasantly surprised. I went online to take a quick look at the property before I hit the "buy" button but only did detailed research when booking. I looked at photos of different units to try and get a "good one." Either we got a completely different unit than I saw online or they haven't updated their photos. The unit was 116 in the West building. The finishes were very (very) high end. Lovely dark wood, soft close cabinets, granite surfaces throughout, high-end kitchen appliances, large flat screen TV's, etc. This is a one bedroom with a pull out couch so it sleeps 4 max. It has 2 bathrooms (love that). The master bath shower was enormous and had a delightful rain head along with two others. The kitchen was spacious, unlike most one bedroom rental condos we've encountered. There was no dining table but the bar, with 4 stools, was large enough to eat around. We had a view of the mountains - it would have been unobstructed if the unit was on a higher floor. The unit was EXTREMELY clean!!

The location was excellent sitting right in the heart of the Lionshead area in Vail. There are shops, restaurants and activities right out your door.

Underground parking came with the deal - which would be great during the winter.

We only had 2 small complaints - Thin ceiling...the people above had small children that ran around and we heard every step. Extra bathroom toilet water ran.

Room Tip: Rooftop pool and 2 hot tubs. Fitness room looked well appointed. Higher floors in the West buildin...

Stayed here for Spring Break during 2013. Yes, taken me a while to get round to writing a review, but even months after I think it is worth it so here we go.

The Landmark is in a great location. A short 5 minute (max) walk to the slopes. The lobby is nice, the late arrival system worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the condo we stayed in was completely below expected standards. The living area was old and worn, but even if new, the furniture would have left a lot to be desired. The bedrooms were better than the living area and each had a tv. I can't remember what apt number this was. The first night of our trip we were in a beautifully furnished 2 bedroom (L201). What I would suggest is trying to find out what condo you are in before committing to a booking as they obviously vary greatly.

Room Tip: Check which condo you have rented!!

Have stayed at the Landmark over Labor Day weekend for many years. The staff is always very helpful when describing the available accommodations. Our 3 bedroom plus loft condo was beautiful and overlooked the square. We enjoyed listening to some great jazz music while sitting on the balcony. The Landmark is close to the fun restaurants in Lionshead and a short walk to Vail village, although the shuttle stop to Vail is steps away from the front entrance. We'll be back next year!

Room Tip: Book early in the year!

I had a great time at the Landmark Condominiums. Rosemary is excellent and makes sure I always have a great stay. My condos I've stayed in have been amazing especially the last one I had on the 4th floor. There is a driver there that takes me to get my groceries in west vail, which is very nice. The location is great as there is a small grocery store, liquor store, restaurants and bars very close which makes the location fantastic. I have been there 3 times now and definitely plan on going back as my son lives in Vail, Colorado.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to be nice but you want the ones that are platinum rating.

We stayed at the Landmark over Labor Day weekend for two nights. We rented a 2br 2ba unit that was a gold rated unit.

Unit:
Definitely insist on a platinum rated unit and get it in writing if you want to have a nicely appointed unit. One of our bathrooms required you to contort your body to shut the door and turn on the water in the shower. Worse than what you can come to expect when traveling in Europe. Our unit's furnishings were very tired and for a family of four it was just enough space. If planning on trying to get more than 4 in a 2br unit think twice.

Location and amenities:
The location is excellent ... Right in the center of Lionshead village and say a 10 min walk to Vail village (free bus transport also available). The swimming pool was nice for the kids as were the hot tubs. The pool area is nothing special. The fitness center was small which did not matter to me as I went mountain biking (Lionshead MB trailheads at base of mountain). As for the staff, they were average and pleasant. I would not say that they left a lasting impression.

Bottom Line:

With so many options available to you, Landmark should be on the list but there are better alternatives.

Landmark was recommended to me by a friend who said it was a good value in Lionshead Village. Well my expectations were exceeded when we arrived. The front lobby is nicely appointed, the staff was very helpful. When we arrived in our unit, a 2/2, it was very well appointed and updated. Very comfortable space for the three of us to hangout and a great deck with perfect views of Vail Mountain.

Love the underground parking, the pool and three hot tubs after a long day of hiking or biking. Super convenient to the gondola as well as restaurants. Vail Village is a nice 15 minute walk or a quick ride on the free in town bus.

If you want a. Ice safe and clean place that won't break the bank, the Landmark fits the bill perfectly.
