Ever wonder where they got the name for a rat hole. Evergreen lodge is where. Nothing good to say about thus dump. I would have given it zero stars if it was available. Dirty rooms to bad food, following some of the sorriest room I've ever been in. It. Gives vail a bad name.

stayed in the evergreen lodge for 3 nights in a room with 2 queen beds. Very basic room, nothing special. The evergreen is located few minute walk to bus stop. From bus stop to vail centre by bus takes few minutes, by foot about 10 min.
Hotel accomodation is basic, no breakfast included. I doubt if i would go for the evergreen again.

Well, for $300 a night, I would have expected way more, even in Vail.
I was surprised to see that the hotel is kind of run down. The carpet and upholstery are worn out. The staff doesn't bother to smile or make you feel welcome, almost as if to tell you: We know that you are spending way less here than at other Vail Village hotels, so be thankful that we are acknowledging your presence.
Forget luxury here.
When we arrived we had to carry our own bags to the room because the hotel doesn't have a porter and the concierge can't be bothered. The hotel staff is happy to meet any special requests, such as for additional towels or sheets, so long as you get off your butt and go get them yourself. If you have a headache, you can get an Aleve from the concierge - but expect to pay extra for it and, of course, get it yourself.
Breakfast is not included, but it's rather good and comprehensive ( cereal, eggs, bagels, muffins ) save for the fact that it closes at 10, though in fairness we were twice allowed in after closing.
POSITIVES: They have free apre-skiing one day a week on Thursday. The hotel is conveniently located between lion's head and vail village. There is a bus right around the corner from the hotel that every 5/7 minutes takes you to Vail Village.
Parking is included.
It's not a disaster. It's just a rip off.

The Evergreen Lodge is perfect if you are in Vail to ski and be out-and-about. This is not a hotel you want to spend great lengths of time lounging in from my experience. The lunch/dinner at the restaurant and room service were surprisingly good and reasonable. The much-touted breakfast buffet seemed overpriced and not very tasty. The staff all seem very friendly, but be advised, as in most places in Vail, almost no one speaks very fluent English.

Stayed 6-14 Jan 2008. This is third time at this hotel.
Good location. Easy access to vail village and lionshead on free shuttle.
Large car park free, kept clear of snow. Reception area is inviting with large open fire and numerous seating areas. Ski and boot storage. The hotel has a bar and restuarant which we have not used.
The outdoor pool and indoor jacqusi is clean and well used.
Our room was on 2nd floor and looked onto the mountain. 2 large double beds Big TV and 2 seats, with plenty of storage for clothes
The bathroom is clean with seperate and extra sink. There is coffee making facilities and refridgerator.
Staff have always been helpful and on a Thursday evening there is a free wine and cheese celebration for all the guest.
We would stay here again

Filthy rooms included dirty socks from the prior occupant in the bed. Linen unchanged from prior occupant and filthy. Room was dirty, beds uncomfortable and pillows like rocks. I was charged for 2 extra nights even after explaining the problems and that my son and I were there for his post op care for surgery at the Steadman_Hawkins clinic. Also told me that they had room service and found that only for 3 hours during the evening. The food was inedible. Breakfast and lunch not available in the Lodge.

We stayed twice with one week separation in this hotel.
The first time we stayed on the fifth floor at the rear.
This hotel has no AC or any room ventilation at all. One can open the window (with bugscreens OK) to aereate and use the portable fan provided. Not that great. The noise from the ventilation from the sports hospital accross the hotel was annoying during the night. The second time we stayed on the first floor.
The bed and bathrooms were clean. The double sinks came in handy, yet a bit cramped around the shower and bowl. We had hot water both times.
Internet was available through two free stations in the lobby. The desk staff was friendly.
The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced and stocked (fresh fruit and dairy, and breads plus hot servings). We did not visit the bar/restaurant.
Overall the room was quiet with respect to other guests.
We enjoyed the jaccuzi, sauna and pool downstairs
The Lodge is within walking distance from the gondala in Lionshead and Vail Village.
We were informed this Lodge is outdated versus new accomodations and will be torn down for a Marriott hotel.
This seams reasonble since the Lodge overall is outdated in comfort in upscale Vail.
