Stayed at Westwind for 4 nights with my wife and two teenage boys. My fifth time to Vail. Vail is very expensive so you have to find your value point. Westwind is a good value and a great location for a Vail ski condo. It is not luxurious but the staff, Jeff and Dawn do everything to help you out. Westwind is just steps to the gondola in Lionshead. The heated underground parking and ski lockers are very convenient and a big plus. I'm not a hot tub pool guy, they they are there and looked well kept. Again, "value" and location are what you get here and would recommend Westwind and would stay again.

So Diappointed that we had chose to stay here! Really started our Vacation off on a sour note! Tried to get out of contract and find a new place immediatley, being spring break there were NO availabilities, We couldnt wait for our spring break to go skiing in Vail, we had stayed at Lions Square Lodge 3 times before this and had a great time. The only reason we chose West Wind Vail was to have a new expeience, we were told by a property manager that West Wind was nicer then Lions Square and that the gold accomodations were all up dated and new inside, we were also told that the ski school was right out the door, the Gondola was 50 feet from the back door..... Well I'm not sure who rates these condos, however we would never ever stay or recommend this place. We also learned while we were there, that some of the owners have updated their condos, but just a few. If you dont know which ones you will pay the same price for a dump. The Bathrooms are literally out of the 60 and 70s (gross). Everything is old and decrepit. If you have children and your carrying their ski equipment, you had better be ready for a hike. Walking out the back door of Condo you will litterally have to hike 3 flights of stairs. then walk a nice distance around Vail Village, The I-70 interstate is literally in front of the West Wind the noise for sleeping was horrible. We slept with ear plugs. Any flushing of toilets or showers in and around your condo is so loud you literally feel like your in the bathroom with you neighbor. We were just so unhappy and so mis-led, If you are planning a luxurious ski vacation, this is not your place. We stayed for a week and the only thing houskeeping did for us the whole week was take garbage and leave new towels. They never changed a sheet or made a bed. The reason we go on vacation is to relax and be pampered. The Hot Tubs were a joke! Please take our advice!!!!!!

It is a Jeckle and Hyde experience to stay here. On the positive, you are incredibly close to the Gondola, and the new Lionshead square development. There is a lot going on, and the access, especially with small children, is phenomenal. The units seem very well kept, the underground, heated garage/ski lockers are spotless and very convenient, and the elevator is fabulous! The stainless steel hot tubs and very well heated pool were all great.

So, the downside? Well, for starters, $659 + per night for a Gold level 2BR on the last weekend in March seems ridiculous - even for Vail. We got a last minute deal for half that, but still! The units all scream 1970's. Some are more remodeled than others, but they are all a bit cramped. I'm sure units vary tremendously (we were in 406), but ours had a terrible King size bed in the master (so lumpy, it rolled me around!). The windows were old, and with the location right on the frontage road and very close to I-70, the highway noise at night was loud and constant. There were no coffee filters, and the plates, silver, glassware, etc. were el cheapo cafeteria grade (pots & pans were fine). Furniture was dated. If I had booked mid winter and paid $700 a night, I would not have been happy.

Am I whining? I'm really not or at least don't mean to be. We had a great stay, daily housekeeping was fine, and as I said, the location couldn't be beat. Maybe I'm just clueless or out of touch on the cost of fun in Lionshead these days. But hopefully this helps you to make your decision.

I could not have been happier.

The location is perfect (right in Lionshead). Great underground parking. Perfect 2 bedroom condo.

I will go back (hopefully)!

See you on the slopes!

My family has stayed at this property five times in the last twenty years - and are again this coming season (my parents, my two siblings and our families, which have grown by seven during this period). On each occasion the lodging has been impeccable and the staff have always done all in their power to make the vacation unforgettable. The proximity to Lionshead and the small distance to the hustle and bustle of Vail Village all work to make this the BEST.
