We love this hotel and its restaurant. Coffee on the balcony in the morning, watching the town get ready for all its visitors is our favorite. Our first stay there was in the fall, 1973, and we love going back. Vail is #1 for scenery, shopping, dining, and people-watching any time of the year. There is no place better to stay than Gramshammer!

Hotel Gasthof Gramshammer was a wonderful experience that started at the reception desk and continued with the room and included breakfast. The room was a taste of Germany or Austria with nice linens and wonderful view of the village. It was quiet and clean. We enjoyed the restaurant for dinner and the breakfast which was included was absolutely over the top with cold meats, cheeses, wonderful fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, all kinds of breads and pastries.- everything you can imagine. We found the staff helpful and pleasant. The parking was tight but in Vail - there is no parking, so we were happy to have it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view as Vail is a village and you want to be part of it.

The hotel was beautiful and right in the middle of Vail Village. It has a great restaurant and staff was very helpful. However, it was very noisy at night and rooms on the backside of the hotel cost more. ( They do provide ear plugs) For a summer stay, travellers should know there is no air conditioning.

By staying in the low season, late June, perhaps we avoided some of the problems with noise other travellers had noted. Our room was very quite and spacious--2 queen beds. As there is no air conditioning it can be hot in the summer but the night was cool and we left the patio door open (a very small patio but with a nice view of the mountains if you were out on it--view of shop roof from inside room. As it was summer, Vail was offering free parking in the village parking garage so we kept the car there and didn't use the hotel parking garage, which would have been difficult to find and $10 per night. We didn't mind rolling our luggage through town to the car but we were 3 ladies and had only carry on size luggage--might have been different with larger suitcases or in the winter.
We found the front desk staff to be very pleasant and accomodating for our needs. The breakfast was great--fruit, juices, coffee, tea, bread, cheese and cold meats. I loved it. The sitting area downstairs was also very nice. There is a bit of navigating down halls and up and down stairs but, again, this reminded me of staying in Austria. I would stay here again.

Enjoyed it very much. Only thing to be aware of is not every room is directly accessible by elevator. Also, rooms along the street where Pepis restaurant patio are subject to the noise of the crowd and music. Enjoyed the sauna and jacuzzi! Very comfy beds!

I have stayed at this hotel 8 or 9 times over the years. It has been consistently good - large, nicely appointed rooms, big balconies, lots of storage space (closets, bathroom, cabinets, etc.). The location is unbeatable if you want to take advantage of all Vail Village has to offer. We enjoy the free breakfast and really get to "load up" on good food before a day of physical activity. They have a full restaurant and a first-class retail store attached to the hotel. I've traveled in Austria and this hotel definitely captures the feel of a European ski chalet. You can spend a lot of money on Vail hotels - we always get a good price here - the value for the price can't be beat!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the less noisy side of the hotel.

This hotel is the best, value-priced hotel with a fantastic location. It feels like a European pensione, and the big balconies off the rooms are nice. Rooms are spacious anx the bathrooms have goid counter space. Its great, central location can mean its loud (people walking by, bar noise), but the benefits outweigh the potential noise, and they do have ear plugs in the room. We only experienced a little noise when the bars closed, but nothing major.

The restaurant is charming, with a great patio for a drink--I would probably go elsewhere to eat since there are so many other good choices in Vail. The complimentary breakfast is simple yet nice (cereals, fruit, meats/cheeses, bagels, pastries and juice/coffee/tea). The workout room is adequate and the two jacuzzi tubs are nice after a day of hiking (or skiing).

I will definitely be back to stay here during ski season, and it's conveniently a block or so from the main gondola. Not sure what the parkinv situation in winter is though--they only have a small garage.

Love this place!
