We just went to Lancelot for the first time in awhile. We had eaten here on each of three of trips to Vail in the last 20 years.

It hasn't missed a beat, although it somehow seemed a bit less intimate than we remembered. The nicely lit dining room was comfortable, and though I wouldn't recommend it for an intimate dinner, it was wonderful for our party of 7. One DS had the brie appetizer, which he said was worthy of being street food in Prague - high praise for this college junior. Three in the party had the Lancelot steak special (porterhouse, I think) of varying degrees of doneness, and all liked it very much. DD had filey mignon and really liked it. DS#2, an aspiring chef, had the veal and nearly swooned.

Also worthy of mention was the streudel dessert, a house specialty, which did not disappoint.

We must add that the service was terrific, always there when we wanted it but not when we didn't. We will keep Lancelot on our list.

Finally, we didn't take advantage of a special that allowed diners a free entree with a bottle of wine for being early birds before 6:15 pm, but I wished we would have done that as the place is not exactly cheap.

Gorgeous location right on the Creek in Vail Village, dining al fresco is an option and we were lucky enough to sit outside. We did not have reservations, but only had to wait 5 minutes for an outside table, it was cleared quickly for us to be seated.
They have a Specials menu, wide variety of entrees on it, had a wonderful trout entree and steak. Very good wine list, and all prices of wines available. No wine snobbery, we ordered a mid-priced bottle and no one scoffed at us. Food was excellent, tasted very fresh, the trout was wonderful, and the service was fantastic. Vail can be very very expensive, or you can find local spots that are fantastic and more reasonable. After 15 years of Vail summers, we enjoy finding new spots but also enjoy returning to Lancelots every year!

We ended up stopping in at the Lancelot during our stay in Vail due to all entrees being off 50%. We did not regret it. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place. The best dining experience in Vail yet at reasonable prices.

We dined at Lancelot on August 9th. The four of us had prime rib, the house specialty, and all of us enjoyed our dinners. Our server, a charming lady from Romania, was pleasant and professional. The restaurant is running a summer special with most dinners priced at $20.00 and 20% off on the wine list. The King Arthur cut prime rib was a little higher, but it still was a good value. The dining room is nice and there is al fresco dining at the back, but as the evenings cool off quickly in Vail, we ate inside. This is a down to earth restaurant with no pretensions and well-prepared food.
