As the hotel celebrates its 50th anniversary, plans of renovating the restaurant and bar space are well underway! The new look will meld together its mountain roots of Colorado with a rustic vibe. The Fitz Bar & Restaurant will be a hip and contemporary bar & dining scene featuring comfort food elevated with locally sourced ingredients, hand-crafted cocktails, and local drafts.

Great food, great atmosphere - best place for viewing Vail fireworks but make reservations ahead!

I visited the The Lord Gore with 6 family members and friends. It offers great food in a comfortable and well decorated dining room that has a fantastic view of the ski slopes. We found it to be a refreshing change from the often crowded and sky's the limit pricing found in many of Vail Village's other high quality restaurants. We enjoyed many wonderful creative twists on classic dishes. For example, the French onion soup baked with a perfect cheese crust added a hint of apple that enhanced the already tasty broth below. Salads were fresh and nicely presented. For entrees the lamb chops were out of this world and the fillet mignon superb, cooked exactkly as we ordered it. One of us had a variation on a meatloaf that was just as interesting as the soup was. The service was friendly and efficient, and the wine list was nice without being overly pricey. The Lord Gore is in the Manor Vail Lodge at Golden Peak, a few yards from the bus stop (I was told they offer free parking to diners arriving by car). Go before it is discovedred by the hoardes just 5 minutes away in the center of the village!

I have been to most restaurants in the Vail area, but had not yet been to the Lord Gore. I was VERY pleasantly surprised and we will most definitely be back. We had several appetizers and they were all great. For an entree, I had the Wild Mushroom Gnocchi and it was amazing. I have been dreaming about it ever since and can't wait to have it again! My family had the Crispy Skin Rainbow Trout and the Lamb Two Ways...they were also wonderful. For dessert we had the Flourless Chocolate Cake, it was absolutely TO DIE FOR!!
I highly recommend this restaurant to all of you! The Chef came out to our table to see how things were and he was very nice. The managers, Adam and Chris, are both fantastic and very accommodating to any needs we had. It is a wonderful restaurant, you should definitely go try it out! :-)
