I enjoy Sweet Basil more for lunch than dinner. In my older age I like simpler dishes: delicious yet with familiar flavors and not too many mixtures. The pear salad was so good and their specialty toffee dessert is just wonderful. However, my steak was not tasty and the risotto had a very salty strong flavor that made me wish I had just gotten the mushroom burger like my husband. Now that was perfect! So were his French fries.
Most everyone I talk to in Vail considers Sweet Basil the best of the best and it is a very special place with great service and quite comfortable and attractive. I do like almost everything I have ever eaten there, but am just getting boring, I guess.
