“Did not live up to the hype”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2013

This restaurant was pretty good, but it sure did not live up the hype. I will say the sweet potato soup and dessert of sticky toffee pudding were delicious. I ordered a cocktail from the specialty menu that tasted like children's cough syrup. Entree of chicken was average and the "chicken nuggets" were just strange. My husband had salmon and it was pretty forgettable. Service was competent but oddly dismissive. My husband described it as sporadic. I really wanted this to be better, but I was disappointed. Sure not worth the big bucks we paid, but not terrible.

“Very good upscale dinner”

The food and service was very good. The best part for us was the setting over looking Gore Creek, it's very romantic. I would highly recommend this place for couples out on a nice date night.

“Great desserts”

We stopped by for dessert after seeing a movie in Vail Village. I can't rate their entrees but their desserts were really good.

“Foodie Delight”

Terrific appetizer uniquely spiced. Be sure to get Carl's wine and scotch review at the bar before or after dinner. Colorado Lamb my favorite but lots of unique Mountain Colorado selections.

“Can't Go Wrong in Vail”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

Sweet Basil is the kind of restaurant you can always count on for a good meal, with a nice selection of dishes that are unique and delicious. We started out with the calamari appetizer, which turned out to be a meal in itself. Fresh calamari and shrimp, mixed with string beans, carrots and jalapenos tempura style. Sweet Basil features a nice wine selection as well. Highly recommended for mid-day meals. Service was efficient and friendly.
