The food for two of us on a Thursday evening in September was completely scrumptious, and the wine was a delight. We were seated at a booth in the middle of the restaurant, and there was a lot of coming and going during the meal. So, not a venue for a quiet tete a tete, but festive and delicious.

Sweet basil is our favorite in Vail and we always go at least once when in the area. The shrimp and calamari and the roasted beet salad are always good. This time we had the salmon rilette which was an outstanding blend of flavors and has moved up on our list. The truffled French fries are another must have. There is a good selection of wines by the glass. Do make reservations well ahead.

Absolutely wonderful! Just got back from Sweet Basil a few minutes ago and I couldn't wait to write a review. The food is delicious, elegant, and of extremely high quality; for any special occasion while in Vail or for anyone desiring fine dining, don't miss Sweet Basil. And, it says a lot about a Vail restaurant when it is hard to get a reservation and is completely packed at 7pm in the October shoulder season. Make sure to have the caramel toffee pudding cake dessert--it is one of the best desserts I have ever had anywhere.

they take very good care of their guests. having been in business for over thirty years they've perfected service and have one many awards. make your reservations well in advance during ski season as they're very busy then.

I'm always skeptical about places ranked #1, because it's all about personal preference. For me... It was my wife's birthday, so I wanted a special place with great food, great service, great atmosphere, and walking distance from our hotel (The Sebastian). To put it lightly... Sweet Basil met all our expectations. The place is relatively small; but, cosy and located right in the heart of Vail Village. Because of this, you better book way in advance. I booked 1 week out, and still only got a 5:45pm reservation. The creative fusion of flavors by the chef were impeccable. My wife couldn't stop talking about her salad, and my pork chop was ridiculous. There's a reason it's #1. Definitely recommend, and it will be a lasting memory of our time in Vail.
