At the base of Golden Peak, this is a great spot for Apres Ski, or a fine dining experience worth the free bus ride to get there if you stay in town or a bit further afield. Delicious bar food, dinners and desserts!

Went here on multiple recommendations both local and tourists. Chef restaurant with open kitchen and seasonal menu based on a quasi-farm to table theme. The night we went it was truffle season so there were several items featuring truffles. Service was friendly and accommodating. Sometimes a little spotty but overall pretty good. Everyone tried hard. We had four meals, only one person was really satisfied and one was really unhappy with his meal. Chef may go a little overboard to test food combinations, but it's really hit or miss. We're up for trying anything but raw celery bits in pappardelle and cream sauce really didn't work for any of us. There were other combos as well that were a bit baffling, but I think this is a case of a chef trying to hard.

Given the heavy price tag on virtually everything on the menu, expectations were high as well -- especially given the double whammy that in addition to the price of Larkspur, it is in Golden Peak and not all that convenient to visit in the evenings (nothing going on at Golden Peak in the eves).

So when we ranked our favorite restaurants from this recent trip to Vail, Larkspur came in pretty low -- especially given the price. For a better value, more fun and more traditional Colorado ambiance and cuisine, we recommend Russell's which in Vail Village.

Food, wine, ambiance, and service were all excellent. Only negative was that the waiter was not knowledgable on the wines (and they have an extensive wine list) - it also took them a while to locate the wine - was apparently in the wrong bin. But the food was probably the best we had in Vail, and it was a great value.

Went to this restaurant on recommendation. Food was underwhelming and over priced (over $30 for 3 bites of fish and $45 for a chewy steak- by the way there's no way it was prime beef). Our server was borderline terrible. Her name was Jess and she practically ignored us the entire meal. When she was at the table it was uncomfortable, as though she didn't want to be there, when we asked questions she acted very snobby and like we were stupid for bothering her.The manager stopped by but he hardly spoke english, I couldn't understand him so I didn't bother complaining to him about an unfix-able situation. I Simply paid my check and left with the knowledge to never come back. To Spend my hard earned dollars for this, I am appalled. I will never dine at this place nor recommend it to anyone. Keep your money for nicer restaurants that are easier to get to in Vail Village! Don't waste your time here.

We have been blessed with the opportunity to eat at some of the best restaurants around the world. Our dinner at Larkspur was a good as it gets. We called the restaurant in advance telling them that we were vegans and asked if it would be a problem. The chef said that it would not be a problem and that he would welcome the challenge! The dinner was fabulous and most of the vegetables came from Larkspurs private garden. The wine sommelier did a great job pairing wines from both France and Napa and our guests from Dallas were blown away by the food, wine and service. Thank you Larkspur for a dinner that we will always remember!
